About this hotel
General information
El Palace Barcelona is a five-star grande dame on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, a short walk from Passeig de Gràcia. It first opened in 1919, and its halls have since received monarchs, aristocrats, artists and musicians. Original features — Roman-style marble bathrooms, 1919 fireplaces, wrought-iron detailing — sit alongside calm contemporary interiors. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and its concierges belong to Les Clefs d’Or.
Its best-known addresses are the signature suites: four Art Suites and two El Palace Suites, each devoted to a figure from art or culture and offered with one or two bedrooms. Dining centres on Amar Barcelona by chef Rafa Zafra, while the roof holds one of the city’s largest garden terraces, with a pool and a 360-degree view over Barcelona. The Mayan Luxury Spa with its temazcal sauna, the stately Grand Hall with live music, and a welcome that extends to children and dogs complete the picture.
Location
The hotel stands in central Barcelona, in the Eixample district, at Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 668 — steps from Passeig de Gràcia, with the Sagrada Família visible from the roof. Guests in the Art Suites and El Palace Suites have a private arrival transfer from Barcelona–El Prat Airport included (to be booked 48 hours ahead). A private chauffeur is available for city journeys and day trips, and there is valet parking.
Spa
The Mayan Luxury Spa draws on Mayan culture: massages, rituals and facials rooted in traditional techniques are paired with French cosmetics by Anne Semonin. Its centrepiece is the temazcal, a pre-Hispanic steam sauna in which volcanic stones and medicinal herbs create the heat. Beauty treatments for women and men — manicures, pedicures, waxing — are offered too, along with sessions with a personal trainer who builds an individual programme.
Sports & leisure
- Rooftop pool in the Rooftop Garden with city views, reserved for hotel guests

For children
Families have dedicated categories — the Two-Bedroom Family Room and the Three-Bedroom Family Suite — as well as the Junior Suite, whose sofa bed sleeps two children. Toys and children’s amenities are placed in the room for younger guests, and a children’s teepee can be set up in the family suite on request. The site lists no kids’ club; the concierge team suggests family plans around the city, from parks and museums to the seafront.
Restaurants & bars
Five venues cover the day, from breakfast in an indoor garden to cocktails with live music.
- Amar Barcelona — chef Rafa Zafra’s gastronomic restaurant in a 1919 dining room: seafood-led Mediterranean cooking, dry-aged meats and dishes from the embers, with The Golden bar counter and a private room for 12
- Rooftop Garden — open-air restaurant and bar on the roof, beside the pool, looking towards the Sagrada Família
- Grand Hall — the historic hall, with a bar and El Hall restaurant serving Catalan and international dishes through the day, plus traditional afternoon tea with live piano
- El Jardín — buffet breakfast in an indoor garden with a stone fountain and wrought-iron accents, international and local dishes
- Bluesman Cocktail Bar — cocktails with live jazz, blues and soul
Swimming
The outdoor pool sits in the Rooftop Garden among greenery and sunlit terraces, with a panoramic view over Barcelona; it is reserved for hotel guests. The hotel is not on the sea, but its motorboat takes guests out for a swim off the coast.
Pets
Dogs are welcome, with pet amenities and treats waiting in the room.
