About this hotel
General information
Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia hides in the thousand-year-old palm grove of Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria, a few minutes’ walk from the famous dunes and beach. It holds Spain’s top Gran Lujo rating and is the island’s only member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The mood is quiet and intimate, suited to couples, solo travellers and anyone in search of calm.
The Parisian designer Alberto Pinto created its Spanish-colonial architecture and interiors: warm colours, teak furniture and hand-painted Portuguese tiles. Two-storey villas holding the rooms surround a tropical garden and the pool, and the restaurant terrace looks out to the dunes and the island’s mountains. Guests have a spa with a salt cave, a 24-hour doctor and medical check-ups, physiotherapists, a hairdresser and a beauty salon.
Location
The hotel sits in a palm grove just south of Maspalomas, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Maspalomas beach and its dunes are about 5 minutes on foot, and the boutiques and restaurants of the Meloneras boulevard are within walking or cycling distance. The airport is 38 km away, roughly half an hour by car, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is 45 minutes. Transfers are available on request.
Spa
The spa centres on a mineral-enriched saltwater pool (around 30 °C) with underwater jets, massage seats and air-jet loungers, plus a Finnish sauna, a steam bath under a starry ceiling, a salt cave, an ice fountain, multi-sensory showers, a cold plunge pool and a quiet zone. Seven treatment rooms use Natura Bissé products. The pool, sauna, steam bath and salt cave are free for guests, and there is also a hairdresser and beauty salon.
Sports & leisure
The saltwater main pool is heated all year to about 27 °C and surrounded by a palm-lined terrace with loungers. There is an outdoor gym, a personal trainer, aqua gym and aqua spinning in the wellness pool five times a week, physiotherapy, medical check-ups and meditation in the spa, plus a bridge salon for card players.
The nearest golf courses, Maspalomas and Meloneras, are both about 5 minutes by car; Salobre is 15 minutes and Anfi Tauro 20. Reception books tee times and there is a golf-bag store. Bikes can be hired a minute’s walk from the hotel, and the island offers windsurfing, diving, riding and mountain hikes.
For children
There is a small children’s pool by the main pool, and cots, sterilisers and baby monitors are provided; a babysitter can be arranged on request. The hotel has no kids’ club of its own.
Restaurants & bars
Dining revolves around one restaurant and two bars.
- Restaurant — breakfast buffet on the terrace and dinners from the chef’s menu or à la carte, Canarian and international cuisine with Canarian and international wines; a barbecue buffet twice a week, smart-casual dress at dinner
- Pool Bar — poolside lunches of seasonal tapas and snacks, with home-made cakes and signature waffles in the afternoon
- Piano Bar — beneath the restaurant terrace, with live music every evening, cocktails, Spanish and Canarian wines and champagne
Swimming
The wide sandy beach of Maspalomas and its dunes are about 5 minutes on foot. Reception hands out beach bags with towels and water.
