General information
Gran Tacande Wellness & Relax is a five-star hotel on the seafront of Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, with the sandy Playa del Duque just beyond its pools. It belongs to the Canarian group Dreamplace Hotels & Resorts, and its whole approach is built around rest, restoration and slow days by the ocean.
Its 255 rooms and suites are generously sized, pairing touches of Canarian décor with contemporary furniture. Four saltwater pools, the Vitanova thalasso spa, tennis and padel courts and a set of restaurants – from a market-style buffet to tasting menus of island cooking – fill out the stay. A separate area of the hotel, Gold Level, has rooms with terrace hot tubs or private pools and its own San Sebastián Exclusive Plaza, an infinity pool above the Atlantic. Smoking is not allowed indoors, only on room terraces and balconies and in designated areas.
Location
The hotel sits on the Costa Adeje shoreline in the municipality of Adeje: Playa del Duque lies directly behind the pool area, and Fañabé beach is about a 10-minute walk away. The Plaza del Duque shopping centre, with boutiques, bars and restaurants, is less than 100 m from reception, and the resort centre about 1 km away. Tenerife South Airport is 20 km away, around 20 minutes by road, and Tenerife North Airport 83 km, roughly an hour; the hotel arranges transfers from both. On-site parking is limited, with free car parks nearby.
Spa
Vitanova Thalasso Spa & Wellness Centre is built around sea water: its two-hour thermal circuit takes in a pool, showers and a hydromassage bath. There is also a swimming pool, a sauna, a salt room, a Turkish bath, foot baths and two contrast showers. Treatments take place in four single rooms, a shiatsu room and two couples' rooms, with facial and body care, including personalised treatments, aesthetics, guided sessions and nutrition consultations. The spa uses French Sothys products, sold in its own shop, and the fitness centre is next door.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre beside the spa covers every major muscle group, and personal training can be booked. Tennis and padel courts are on site, with equipment from reception. An activity programme for adults runs gym sessions, aerobics and poolside stretching by day and live performances in the evening. Reception can arrange island excursions and car hire.
For children
The Miniclub welcomes children from four, with younger ones joining alongside a parent, and a childcare service for ages 4–7 offers a few hours of supervised games and activities. Both are booked at reception a day in advance. Children's entertainment runs at Easter, in summer and at Christmas, and a babysitter can be arranged on request. A children's pool, 0.5 m deep, sits beside the Playa Pool.
Restaurants & bars
The hotel's restaurants and bars run from breakfast to late evening, and gluten-free dishes are prepared on request.
- Zurrón Market Buffet – the main restaurant, a market-style buffet for breakfast and dinner with three show-cooking stations and an outdoor Canarian grill
- Bocana Beach Club – beach-club-style restaurant by the main pool, serving à la carte lunches of traditional oven-cooked dishes, plus drinks and snacks
- Bocoy – à la carte restaurant where traditional cooking meets the avant-garde
- Haydée – gastronomic restaurant with two tasting menus of Canarian and La Gomera cuisine, with its own entrance and open to outside diners
- San Sebastián Exclusive Plaza – reserved for Gold Level and Imperial Suite guests, with an infinity pool, Bali beds, drinks, snacks and cocktails and an à la carte lunch
- Azotea Sunset Raw Bar – rooftop terrace for sunsets, with champagne, cocktails and wines
- Hall Bar – indoor piano bar for quiet evenings
- Lobby Bar – evening bar in the lobby for cocktails, teas and coffees
Swimming
Four saltwater pools are heated all year: the Playa Pool with loungers and bar service, an infinity pool overlooking the Atlantic, a hydromassage pool beside it and a children's pool. Gold Level and Imperial Suite guests also have a private infinity pool with eight hydromassage stations at San Sebastián Exclusive Plaza. The solarium has loungers, parasols and Bali beds; lifeguards watch the pools and towels are provided. The sandy, Blue Flag Playa del Duque is about 50 m from the hotel.
Pets
Pets are not accepted, with the exception of guide dogs.
Rooms
The 255 rooms and suites are warm and contemporary with Canarian accents, and each has a terrace or balcony. Gold Level rooms and suites are grouped in their own area of the hotel, with access to San Sebastián Exclusive Plaza.
