About this hotel
General information
Bahía del Duque spreads along the Atlantic shore at Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, and recreates a 19th-century Canarian colonial estate. Picturesque patios lead down to the pools, and 63,000 m² of gardens, planted with native species around a lake that draws birdlife, take up much of the grounds. In the evenings resort life gathers on La Placita, the central square, where shows are staged.
There are 386 rooms, suites and villas across three areas: the main resort; Casas Ducales, a self-contained manor with its own entrance and reception, modelled on historic townhouses in Santa Cruz de Tenerife; and Las Villas, the most secluded corner, with private pools and interiors by Pascua Ortega. Ten restaurants, from Japanese to Basque grill, are joined by a long line-up of bars and lounges, and the Bahía Wellness Retreat spa centres on open-air thalassotherapy. The hotel is part of The Tais Hotels and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Location
The resort sits on Avenida de Bruselas in Costa Adeje, on Tenerife's southern coast, with direct access to two beaches, Playa del Duque Sur and Playa del Duque Norte, and to a promenade of restaurants, cafés and shops; the terraces look across to the neighbouring island of La Gomera. Tenerife South airport is 23 km away, about 20 minutes by road, and Tenerife North airport 86 km, about an hour. The hotel arranges airport transfers on request, as well as private jet travel to the island.
Spa
Bahía Wellness Retreat is wrapped in aromatic gardens and volcanic stone. At its heart is an open-air thalassotherapy circuit: the Vitality pool, filled with Atlantic seawater and entered through a two-metre waterfall, with hydromassage jets, bubble beds and an ice-cold plunge, alongside a hammam, saunas, Scottish showers and a solarium with shaded loungers; the circuit is open to guests aged 16 and over. Treatments take place in 20 cabins, five outdoor cabins and an outdoor couples' area, four Thai Room Spa cabins staffed by Thai therapists, three thalassotherapy cabins and a VIP suite, with rituals drawing on local ingredients such as banana leaves, aloe vera and volcanic rock. There is also a Beauty Studio for hair, manicures and pedicures, physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture and aquatic therapy, a fitness centre, a kinesis, Pilates and yoga studio, personal trainers, and mindfulness and coaching sessions. Specialists put together tailor-made wellness programmes, and Las Villas guests can follow the Hipnos deep-sleep programmes.
Sports & leisure
Facilities include two tennis courts with lessons and tournaments, a padel court, a squash court, a nine-hole pitch-and-putt beside Las Villas (for players with a handicap certificate), a 24-hour gym for guests aged 16 and over and the spa's fitness centre, plus water sports; five golf courses lie between 3 and 17 km away. Within the grounds there are botanical walks through the gardens, guided stargazing at the resort's astronomical observatory, a Tobacco Museum, giant chess and sunset dinners in a gazebo at the romantic viewpoint. The entertainment team runs a daily programme for all ages, and the Club House concierge arranges yacht trips, whale and dolphin watching, horse riding, karting and visits to the island's theme parks. The resort also has two shops, Sunrise Store and Sunset Store.
For children
The Mini Club welcomes children aged 3 to 12 every day with a programme of games and learning, while teenagers have their own Teen Club with board games, PlayStation 5, Xbox and a lounge with TV. Families will find a heated children's pool, children's menus in most restaurants, babysitting for all ages and a full range of baby equipment, from cots, high chairs and pushchairs to sterilisers, bottle warmers and car seats for transfers. The hotel organises themed children's parties, and the spa offers Petite Wellness Rituals for children aged 6 to 16 together with a parent. Nub, and Kensei after 6 pm, admit guests aged 10 and over.

Swimming
The resort opens directly onto Playa del Duque Sur and Playa del Duque Norte, with calm water and golden sand; the hotel runs beach bars along the promenade. Within the grounds are six pools: two seawater, three freshwater (two of them heated) and a heated children's pool. The Las Villas pool is reserved for guests in that area, and each villa adds its own heated plunge pool. Towels are provided free at every pool, and inflatables are not allowed. The spa's Vitality pool offers another seawater swim.
