General information
Finca Cortesín is an estate in the hills of Casares on the western Costa del Sol, conceived in the manner of a classic Andalusian cortijo. Whitewashed buildings are arranged around generous patios with fountains, linked by scented courtyards and manicured gardens, while the interiors pair the craftsmanship of old southern Spanish houses with restrained contemporary design. Accommodation is entirely in suites and residences, most with ceilings of around 4 m.
At its heart is the estate's own 18-hole championship golf course, laid out by Cabell B. Robinson with wide fairways running between olive trees and views towards the coast. Around it sit a spa of more than 2,200 m² with a dedicated Thai wing, a hilltop yoga centre, tennis and padel courts, several restaurants and a beach club on the sea. The pace is unhurried: walks through the gardens, long lunches and, in summer, open-air evening concerts.
Location
The estate lies in the municipality of Casares in the province of Málaga, about a mile from the Mediterranean, between Estepona and Marbella. The hotel's beach club is at Bahía de Casares, served by a complimentary shuttle for guests. The concierge arranges transfers, and residence stays of five nights or more include an airport transfer by Mercedes Viano.
Spa
The spa covers more than 2,200 m², with separate areas for facial and body treatments, thermal baths, a fitness centre and a 25 m² indoor heated saltwater pool. The Thai Spa has ten treatment rooms and a double suite, all with heated floors; four rooms are set aside for traditional Thai massage given by Thai therapists. Treatments use Biologique Recherche and Seed to Skin Tuscany, and there is a hair salon. On a hilltop with mountain and sea views, the ARANI Yoga & Meditation Center offers Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin and Kundalini yoga.
Sports & leisure
Golf comes first: Cabell B. Robinson's GEO Certified 18-hole championship course, a clubhouse and the Nicklaus Academy, whose Jack Nicklaus Coaching Studio uses video and 3D motion analysis and a simulator for private and on-course lessons, with club fitting by TaylorMade and Honma. The Fitness & Racquet Club has outdoor tennis and padel courts and a spacious Technogym gym, with personal trainers, including Pilates and yoga, on request. The concierge arranges sailing and lunch aboard a private boat, hiking and cycling routes, horse riding, white-village tours by Mini Moke, visits to wineries and the Casares cheese farm, cooking and cocktail workshops, wine tastings and day trips to Málaga, Seville and Granada. Evening concerts are held on the estate in summer.
For children
Families can take the two-bedroom Family Suite and join family programmes for all ages, from days on the water and outdoor activities to Andalusian traditions. Residence guests receive six hours of babysitting during their stay for up to three children.
Restaurants & bars
The estate has several restaurants and a bar, ranging from Spanish to Asian and Italian cooking, plus a restaurant on the beach.
- El Jardín de Lutz — modern Spanish cooking by chef Lutz Bösing on a terrace overlooking the sea and old olive groves; à la carte breakfast is served here daily
- REI — the signature restaurant: traditional Asian dishes and Asian–Mediterranean cooking from an open kitchen, with produce from the estate's vegetable garden
- Don Giovanni — Italian cuisine from Sicilian chef Andrea Tumbarello
- The Blue Bar — the hotel lounge bar with a terrace and Moroccan lounge: tapas, sandwiches, salads, teas and cocktails
- Pool 35 — open-air lunches beside the 35 m pool, Mediterranean dishes and grills from the Josper and Monolith Kamado
- Clubhouse — by the golf course, with sea views: salads, sandwiches, pasta and burgers
- Beach Club — Mediterranean cooking right on the sand: seafood, paellas and salads
Private dinners with bespoke menus, lunch at sea and wine tastings with tapas can be arranged.
Swimming
The hotel's 6,000 m² beach club sits on the seafront at Bahía de Casares, with a 35 m infinity pool, Balinese beds and loungers set among gardens and direct access to the beach; a complimentary shuttle runs guests there. On the estate itself there is the 35 m pool beside Pool 35 and the indoor saltwater pool in the spa, while the Pool Suite Sea View and the residences have pools of their own.
Rooms
All accommodation is in Andalusian-style suites and residences with high ceilings, natural materials and terraces, patios or gardens looking over the grounds, pools or coastline. Guests have use of the spa, gym and beach club.

Junior Suite

A separate category on the same plan as the Junior Suite: 4 m ceilings, a private patio or terrace and a marble bathroom with bathtub and walk-in rain shower.
Executive Suite
A suite with a separate lounge, 4 m ceilings, a Juliet balcony and terraces looking towards the Mediterranean; marble bathroom with bathtub, walk-in rain shower and double vanities.
Garden Suite
A bright, spacious suite with 12 ft ceilings, a separate lounge and a private garden or terrace with garden views; bathroom with bathtub, walk-in rain shower and separate WC.
Pool Suite Sea View
A suite with 4 m ceilings and a large terrace with a private pool and panoramic views of the Mediterranean.
Cortesin Suite
The largest suite: a generous separate living room, a bedroom, 4 m ceilings and an 18 m² travertine bathroom with bathtub, walk-in rain shower and double vanities.
Family Suite
Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sitting room and a terrace or private garden; a shared entrance leads to a connected Executive Suite and Junior Suite, which can be opened together or separately.
Residence, La Reserva
A south-facing villa with four en-suite bedrooms (two with king-size beds, two twin-bedded), a living room with a log fireplace, dining room, fully equipped kitchen, terraces, garden and private pool. Stays include twice-daily housekeeping and a four-seat electric golf cart.
Residence, Green 10
One of 16 villas on plots of up to 2,200 m²: five en-suite bedrooms (two with king-size beds, three twin-bedded), living rooms with 5.5 m ceilings, a modern kitchen, staff quarters, parking for two cars, a private garden and pool, and views of the Sierra Bermeja mountains and, in most cases, the sea.
