JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa

About this hotel

General information

JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa sits on a clifftop above the sea in Seogwipo, on the southern shore of Jeju Island. Its low, pavilion-like buildings step down the slope rather than fight it: their roofs are a modern take on Korea's traditional thatched houses, and grid-patterned ceilings let in sea breezes and daylight. Most rooms have their own sea-view balcony.

The interiors draw on the island itself: warm wood, natural stone and basalt, the greys, blacks and whites of the volcanic landscape, and the yellow of Jeju's canola fields, a colour Korean tradition links with good fortune. The resort keeps its own JW Garden, which supplies herbs and greens to the kitchens, and runs an activity programme called RE CONNECT, with separate strands for adults, couples and families.

Location

The resort lies in Seogwipo on Jeju Island's rocky south coast, right beside route 7 of the Jeju Olle trails, with Hallasan rising inland. Jeju International Airport is about 40 km away; the hotel runs no shuttle, so the transfer is by car.

Spa

SPA by JW is reserved for resort guests and has five treatment rooms. Therapists offer hot stone, deep tissue and Swedish massage, facials and eye treatments, body scrubs and wraps, foot baths, paraffin hand treatments and scalp and hair rituals, using organic products.

Sports & leisure

The RE ACTIVE fitness centre is open around the clock and free for guests, with cardio machines, free weights, strength equipment, a CrossFit area, a body-composition analyser and locker rooms. The RE CONNECT programme mixes adult sessions — from wellness practices to outdoor activities — with breathing meditations inspired by the rhythm of Jeju's haenyeo women divers and art walks through the resort, where works tell stories of the island's nature and daily life. In the evening guests gather by the fire at JW Garden Bulmeong, a modern version of the island custom of resting and talking around a fire.

For children

The RE PLAY KIDS CLUB opens daily for free play for children aged four and over, with an adult present. Kids Camp, charged separately, offers half-day and full-day programmes of up to eight hours with outdoor activities and cooking sessions. The indoor pool has a children's area.

Restaurants & bars

Dining follows the seasons of Jeju, with produce from the island and the resort's own garden; in-room dining runs 24 hours.

  • Island Kitchen — all-day international restaurant built on seasonal local produce, home of the Jeju Brunch Royale with caviar and champagne
  • The Flying Hog — wood-fired grill with brick ovens and a private dining room overlooking the sea
  • Yeoumul — seasonal Korean tasting menu drawn from Jeju's sea and land, inspired by haenyeo culture
  • The Lounge — tea lounge with seasonal sweets by day, a Korean-style tavern with local small plates and drinks by night
  • Swim-up bar at the outdoor pool
Swimming

RE FRESH Outdoor is a heated infinity pool facing the sea, with a calm plunge pool alongside and a swim-up bar. RE FRESH Indoor is heated too, with a whirlpool and a children's pool. Both are watched by lifeguards and towels are provided.

Pets

Pets are not allowed.
