54 on Bath is a contemporary boutique hotel in Rosebank, a leafy suburb in the north of Johannesburg, equally suited to business trips and city breaks. Its 75 rooms and suites are each decorated individually, and most look out over the gardens or the city skyline.
Life here centres on the fourth floor, where the Level Four restaurant, the bar and its terrace and a rooftop garden with a pool share one level — the lawn is set up for picnics and croquet. For meetings there are six conference rooms for up to 120 guests and a boardroom, and the concierge takes care of transfers, laundry and pressing, a daily shoe shine and the other details of a stay.
Location
The hotel stands on Bath Avenue in Rosebank, one of Johannesburg’s busiest business and shopping districts. A link bridge from the second floor leads straight into Rosebank Mall, with its designer stores, restaurants and entertainment complex, and the Gautrain rapid-rail station, which connects the area with Johannesburg’s international airport, is an easy walk away. By car the airport is within half an hour, and the Sandton malls, Hyde Park and the city’s central business district are close by. The hotel arranges airport transfers, a limousine service and a shuttle within a 5 km radius.

The rooftop terrace on the fourth floor has an outdoor lap pool, and the garden beside it is laid out for picnics and a game of croquet. Guests have complimentary access to the modern Moove Motion Fitness Club off site, where personal trainers can be booked for a fee, subject to availability.

Level Four serves contemporary fine dining built on classic dishes with a modern touch, at breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, in the dining room or on a sunny terrace; on weekdays it lays on an afternoon tea of sweet and savoury bites, and on Saturdays a high-tea buffet. Next door, Level Four Bar & Terrace, open to non-residents too, overlooks the terrace garden and specialises in cocktails, champagne and gin, with a cocktail list and botanical infusions created in partnership with Hendrick’s Gin. In-room dining runs around the clock.
Swimming
The outdoor lap pool sits on the rooftop terrace on the fourth floor, with views of the sun setting over the city in the evening.
