About this hotel
General information
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore fills the neoclassical Fullerton Building of 1928, set at the mouth of the Singapore River where the historic centre meets the Marina Bay waterfront. The building began life as the General Post Office and also housed the exchange, the chamber of commerce, a private members’ club and government departments; today it is a protected national monument, the country’s 71st.
The hotel has 400 rooms and suites arranged around a sunlit courtyard atrium where afternoon tea is served, while the riverside façade, lined with Doric columns, frames an infinity pool facing the water. Eighty-eight koi in five colours glide through the hotel’s pond, and the Fullerton Heritage Gallery keeps postal artefacts and a red pillar box that still sends postcards. The Straits Club lounge is dressed in Peranakan style, and several suites occupy the building’s former grand rooms, with verandahs and soaring ceilings.
Location
The hotel stands at the mouth of the Singapore River, on the edge of the business district and the Civic District, a few steps from Collyer Quay and Merlion Park. Raffles Place MRT station is a three-minute walk away, and the National Gallery Singapore, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay and Gardens by the Bay are all within a few minutes. The concierge arranges limousine transfers from Changi Airport with a meet-and-greet at the aircraft door, priority clearance through the JetQuay CIP terminal at extra cost, and off-airport luggage check-in at the hotel before departure.
Spa
The Fullerton Spa sits on the mezzanine floor, with treatments and products developed together with the British brand ESPA. It has single and couple suites with their own showers, plus separate relaxation lounges for men and women where refreshments follow each treatment. The Asian Heritage Signature pairs a scalp massage with deep muscle work, and the Fullerton Signature Facial is built around a triple cleanse and facial massage. The menu also covers tui na, hot stone and Balinese massage, hand and foot reflexology and the Natural Face Lift with gua sha. A sauna and steam room complete the facilities.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre on the mezzanine is open to residents around the clock, and the Marina Bay promenades are on hand for an outdoor run; each week the hotel hosts complimentary guided runs and yoga sessions facing the bay skyline. Complimentary tours tell the story of the building, the Fullerton Heritage Gallery is free to visit, and the East Garden holds an urban farm with guided tours and a giant chess set.
Experiences arranged by the hotel include a vintage Vespa sidecar ride through the Civic District and Chinatown, a cruise along Marina Bay in a classic Rolls-Royce, a private photo shoot, a Peranakan costume experience and a perfume workshop with a Singaporean fragrance label.
For children
Our Stumping Ground, an outdoor play area in the East Garden open daily, lets young children climb, jump and balance across rustic logs, and The Fullerton Shop sells the Lion’s Pride art kit for painting a Merlion of their own.
Restaurants & bars
Three restaurants serve the hotel, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
- Town Restaurant — beside the Singapore River: buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners, international and local dishes à la carte and a Sunday brunch
- The Courtyard — light all-day dining and afternoon tea in the atrium, with a harpist from Thursday to Sunday
- Jade — Cantonese cuisine in a 120-seat room in shades of jade with original Doric columns, weekend dim sum and two private dining rooms
Swimming
The 25-metre outdoor infinity pool is framed by Doric columns and looks out over the Singapore River towards the city’s towers. It is reserved for hotel guests, with light refreshments served poolside during the day.
