Le Duc de Praslin

About this hotel

General information

Le Duc de Praslin is a small independent hotel at Anse Volbert, a few steps from Côte d’Or beach on Praslin. Its buildings are scattered through a tropical garden where streams and fishponds wind between palms and flowering plants, with the main building — reception and restaurant — at its heart. There are 48 rooms and suites, plus three villas with kitchens and several bedrooms for families and groups.

The hotel is best known for its dining: Café des Arts sits right on the sand and centres on seafood, with bars nearby for evenings by the water. A spa pavilion occupies one rooftop and a round-the-clock gym another, both looking out over the coast. Sustainability gets serious attention, from solar panels and inverter air conditioning to on-site wastewater treatment and LED lighting.

Location

The hotel lies on Anse Volbert bay along Côte d’Or beach on Praslin. Restaurants, shops and the taxi-boat landing are within walking distance, while the Vallée de Mai nature reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Anse Lazio beach are both within 4 km.

Spa

Elodia Spa is a rooftop pavilion with four treatment rooms — two indoor doubles and two open-air singles — a relaxation area and a wet area with a jacuzzi. Treatments use Comfort Zone, an Italian line built on natural ingredients, alongside products from the Seychelles brand Belliche.

Sports & leisure

The rooftop gym is open 24 hours, with exercise bikes, treadmills, resistance machines, cross-trainers and free weights. Kayaks can be hired on the beach, and sunrise suits a run, yoga or meditation by the water. The hotel arranges guided boat trips with a barbecue to nearby islands — among them the bird reserves of Cousin and Aride, St Pierre for snorkelling, and Curieuse with its giant tortoises — and helps with car and bicycle hire. Two PADI dive centres are a short walk away.

Restaurants & bars

Two restaurants and several bars run from the beach to the pool; kosher, halal, vegetarian and vegan dishes are available.

  • Café des Arts — right on the beach, seafood and creative dishes, relaxed by day and more polished at night
  • Le Dauphin — the main restaurant among fishponds and flowers, buffet breakfast and dinner with international classics and Creole cooking
  • Blue Octopus — the bar at Café des Arts, with cocktails, draught beer and live sport on a big screen
  • Mojito Bar — a bar set on the sand, serving tropical cocktails and alcohol-free drinks three evenings a week
  • Chill Out Tapas Lounge Bar — tapas, wine, beer and cocktails overlooking Côte d’Or beach, open on selected evenings
  • Charcoal Bar — a cosy bar by the main pool, coffee by day, cocktails and aperitifs before dinner
Swimming

Côte d’Or beach offers around 2 km of white sand and calm, shallow water; the hotel provides sunloungers free of charge, with shade under the palms. There is a main swimming pool on site, and the villas have pools of their own.
