Waldorf Astoria Jeddah – Qasr Al Sharq

About this hotel

General information

Qasr Al Sharq, the “Palace of the East”, stands on Jeddah’s North Corniche above the Red Sea. The building is conceived as a palace: a three-storey Swarovski chandelier hangs in the lobby, the interiors are dressed in gilded accents, crystal and Italian furniture, and the rooms blend contemporary design with Arabic motifs — rich colour, layered textures and fine patterns.

It is an intimate house of fewer than fifty rooms and suites, most of them suites with gilded ceilings and marble bathrooms, looked after by a round-the-clock butler service. Aromi serves Italian cooking with views over the sea; the spa, staffed entirely by women, has a hydrotherapy pool and an AquaMed hydrotherapy bed; and there are two pools along with tennis, squash and basketball courts.

Location

The hotel sits on North Corniche Road along Jeddah’s northern waterfront. A seafront promenade and park lie about 1 km away, the fountain on the Jeddah Corniche some 15 km, the city centre 16 km, Souq Al Alawi 20 km and the beaches of Obhur about 36 km. Jeddah’s international airport is around 22 km from the hotel. Self-parking and valet parking are complimentary, and there is an EV charging point on site.

Spa

The spa is reserved for women and run by an all-female team; it is open daily from 10am to 10pm, with bookings by email. Its centrepieces are a hydrotherapy pool and an AquaMed hydrotherapy bed. The menu covers signature rituals such as Spa Harmony and Symphony for the Senses, deep-cleansing and Clarins facials, exfoliations and body wraps, a range of massages including Thai, and beauty treatments.

Sports & leisure

The fitness centre has modern equipment and looks out over the Red Sea, with personal training and tailored fitness programmes available. Tennis, squash and basketball courts cater for games, and swimmers can choose between an indoor pool with a fountain and an outdoor pool.

For children

Childcare is among the services the hotel offers.

Restaurants & bars

Dining divides between Italian and Persian cooking, and room service is available too:

  • Aromi — Italian restaurant with a Venetian accent, white tablecloths and panoramic Red Sea views; open in the evening, closed on Saturdays
  • JOON Restaurant — Persian cuisine for lunch and dinner
  • Al Shurfa Lounge — boutique café for breakfast, coffee, tea and pastries, and afternoon tea; open from 7am to 1am
Swimming

The hotel describes no beach of its own: swimming is in the indoor pool with its fountain and loungers, the outdoor pool, or the spa’s hydrotherapy pool.

Pets

Pets are not allowed; service animals are welcome.
