About this hotel
General information
The resort has a private island to itself in the Ummahat archipelago of the Red Sea, ringed by white sand and a living coral reef. Its architecture is all curves: roofs and walls follow the movement of waves and wind-shaped dunes, the overwater villas coil in a spiral, and interiors in natural textures and regional materials open straight onto the decks. The island welcomes guests all year round.
Ninety villas stand on the beach or over the water, from one to four bedrooms, each with its own pool and a generous sundeck. Five restaurants and bars, The St. Regis Spa with an open-air yoga pavilion, a children's club and a water-sports centre complete the island. The brand's butlers are central to a stay here, unpacking and packing, pressing clothes and bringing a chosen drink with the wake-up call, curtains drawn and the day's paper at hand.
Location
The island lies in the Ummahat archipelago off Saudi Arabia's west coast, about 33 km from Red Sea International Airport. Guests arrive either by seaplane, a flight of around 25 minutes, or by car to the airport's marina and on by speedboat or private charter; transfers are arranged in advance.
Spa
The St. Regis Spa has the Pearl Suite, a couples' room, a single treatment room and open-air treatment cabins, along with the Iridium Lounge, a steam room, warm and cold plunge pools and an outdoor pool. Skincare is by AMRA, with programmes tailored to each guest. The two-hour St. Regis Signature Journey pairs a chosen massage (aroma, relaxing, energising, deep tissue, chakra balancing or pre- and post-natal) with a facial and a foot or scalp massage; there is also a hot-stone massage with 24-carat gold oil, plus scrubs, wraps, and eye, lip, scalp and hair treatments. The salon offers styling, men's grooming, manicures and pedicures. The spa is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00.
Sports & leisure
Water sports on the island are run by WAMA: windsurfing, e-foiling, wing-SUP, catamarans and sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. The Galaxea dive centre on the neighbouring island, five minutes away by speedboat, takes divers of every level, teaches PADI courses and leads snorkelling trips over the reef. Excursions include kayak and paddleboard routes through the mangrove channels near Sheybarah island and snorkelling off Ummahat, while on the mainland the resort's partners lead hikes among the rock formations of the dunes. The 24-hour gym has cardio and strength machines, free weights and a lap pool, with personal training and HIIT classes; yoga and meditation take place in the open-air pavilion. There are tennis and padel courts, bicycles, pool games and outdoor film nights, and the island's dark skies make for clear stargazing.
For children
Little Treasures Kids Club has an indoor play area, an arts and crafts station, a reading corner, interactive games and an outdoor playground. Trained staff run a daily activity programme in which children build boats, colour, make pasta jewellery and design bookmarks. The main pool area includes a children's pool.
Restaurants & bars
Five restaurants and bars cover Middle Eastern, Japanese and grill cooking, and in-villa dining runs around the clock.
- Nesma — Middle Eastern and Saudi cooking from local produce in a bright seaside room, for breakfast and dinner
- Gishiki 45 — modern Japanese with live cooking, sushi and an omakase built on local seafood
- Tilina Steakhouse — a grill house above the reef with an à la carte menu
- The Beach Club at St. Regis — daytime light dishes, grills and house-infused lemonades at the water's edge
- The St. Regis Bar — an evening bar with small plates, crafted drinks and live music
Private chefs cook to a personal menu in the villas, and for a special evening the resort sets up dinner on the sand or on the jetty overlooking the sea.
Swimming
A white-sand beach circles the island, with the coral reef just offshore; the beach villas open directly onto the sand, while the overwater villas stand above the clear reef waters. Beach cabanas for up to four can be reserved by the water. The resort has several outdoor pools: a heated infinity main pool, an adults-only pool, a children's pool and the lap pool by the gym, on top of each villa's private pool.
Pets
Pets are not allowed.
