Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

About this hotel

General information

Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve spreads across two small islands in the Ummahat archipelago, on the edge of the Al Wajh lagoon off Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, where mangroves fringe the shore and coral reefs ring clear turquoise water. Its 65 villas either rest on the white sand or stand over the sea, linked in a floating ring. Their rounded, shell-like forms are built of timber wrapped in rope, and the blues of a deep sinkhole in the lagoon set the resort's palette.

Inside, Arabian heritage is handled lightly: Hijazi patterns, Saudi ceramics and handcrafted pieces, natural textures and objects gathered from the coast. The night sky is part of the stay — every villa has its own telescope and a resident astronomer leads stargazing evenings. At the Conservation House, a naturalist and cultural specialists introduce the reef, the islands and the region's heritage, and every guest is looked after by a personal host.

Location

The resort sits in the Ummahat Islands in the Red Sea, off Saudi Arabia's western coast, at the edge of the Al Wajh lagoon. Red Sea International Airport is about 33 km away.

Spa

Neyrah Spa is an indoor-outdoor space set in gardens at the heart of the resort, with sea-facing treatment rooms, three semi-open timber cabins — Sima, Hayat and Afaq — overlooking the Red Sea, a hammam and rhassoul clay ritual, sauna and steam rooms, a lap pool and a vitality pool, and private and shared yoga pavilions. Couples have the Royal Neyrah Suite, with a Jacuzzi, bathtub and steam shower, while the Neyrah Lounge serves herbal teas and smoothies. Treatments use Natura Bissé and VOYA's organic seaweed-based products — the VOYA Alchemy Bar blends oils to order — alongside oud, moringa and Peregrina oil from AlUla. Signature journeys include The Silent World by Natura Bissé (exfoliation, an aloe vera wrap, massage and facial) and A Voyage to Neyrah by VOYA, with a salt bath and hammam; a dedicated butler helps shape a personal spa programme.

Sports & leisure

Island life centres on the sea, the reef and the night sky:

  • Galaxea Dive Center — courses and certification, dives on coral reefs where hawksbill turtles, dolphins and rays are often seen, and snorkelling
  • Kayaking, sailing and windsurfing
  • A 24-hour fitness centre, private yoga and Pilates sessions and group wellness classes
  • Bicycles and table tennis
  • Stargazing evenings with the resident astronomer
  • Conservation House — a pavilion where nature, astronomy and cultural specialists run hands-on sessions on marine life, history and heritage for guests of all ages; guided walks with the resident naturalist
  • Bread-making classes at the clay oven in Sita
For children

The Kids and Teens Club welcomes guests aged 12 and under, with creative activities and games that introduce children to the islands' nature, history and local culture.

Restaurants & bars

Four restaurants and a bar, with meals also served in the villas, on the beach or out among the dunes:

  • Sita — all-day dining in six pavilions inspired by old bazaars: a French-style patisserie with coffee and tea, and a Levantine restaurant with a great clay oven, hummus made to order and a spice library for mezze
  • Tabrah — an evening seafood restaurant built on the coast's fishing traditions: the day's catch, sharing dishes, a sea-view terrace and blue-tiled arches indoors
  • Jamaa — a relaxed open-air restaurant with sea views, serving light, fresh food and cooling drinks through the day
  • Maia — a sunset bar where astronomy experts talk guests through the night sky, with drinks inspired by the constellations
  • Private dining — in the villa with a personal chef (cooking sessions included), on the beach, among the dunes or in secluded corners by the mangroves
Swimming

The islands are edged with white-sand beaches and clear water over the coral reefs. The resort has a heated outdoor pool with a lifeguard, a lap pool and a vitality pool at the spa, and every villa has its own sea-view pool.
