General information
La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel occupies the curve of Baie Longue on the western tip of French Saint-Martin. It was founded by a couple taken with this secluded bay and named after their daughters, Samantha, Anouk and Nathalie. Since the 1970s it has drawn guests from the Kennedys to David Bowie, and it now belongs to the Belmond collection.
The style is French Caribbean: white and turquoise, marble floors and mahogany detailing, with interiors refreshed by the studio Muza Lab. Rooms, suites and cottages are spread through gardens above the sand, while the Signature Villas sit on the cliff above the sea. There are two pools, La Samanna Spa, three restaurants, a bar and a wine cellar, tennis courts and a watersports centre, and cabanas can be reserved on the beach.
Location
The resort sits directly on the white sand of Baie Longue, in the Terres Basses area at the western end of the French side of Saint-Martin. Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is about 15 minutes away by car, Marigot about 20 minutes, and the ferry to Anguilla takes around 20 minutes. The hotel arranges airport transfers; for Signature Villa guests the round trip is included.
Spa
La Samanna Spa takes a holistic approach and is reserved for hotel guests. Its menu covers massage, including Hawaiian lomi-lomi and a sun-preparation ritual, body polishing, facials, an anti-ageing ritual and a dedicated facial for men. A separate strand is devoted to energy work and naturopathy: iridology, magnetic bioresonance, naturopathic consultations, chakra harmonisation, reiki and private meditation.

For children
There is no kids' club. Instead, a paid nanny service runs around the clock (two-hour minimum), using licensed French babysitters for children under 12 who speak English, French and Spanish. Care can also be arranged for children with disabilities or on the autism spectrum up to the age of 18. Families are best placed in the two-bedroom suites, the three-bedroom cottages or the villas.
Restaurants & bars
Dining spans three restaurants, a breakfast venue, an open-air bar and a wine cellar; kosher meals can be prepared with advance notice.

Swimming
The hotel opens straight onto Baie Longue, a beach of white sand and turquoise Caribbean water, where private cabanas can be reserved. The main Corail Pool is surrounded by gardens, and there is a second pool. Some suites have their own plunge pools, and the Signature Villas each have a private infinity pool.
Pets
Pets up to 12 kg are welcome for a fee (waived for service animals), with a bed, bowls and treats provided. Animals must be kept on a lead in the grounds and are not allowed in the lobbies, restaurants, bars or spa; dogs may stay by the pool only in a carrier or on a mat.
Rooms
Accommodation ranges from Deluxe Ocean View Rooms through one- and two-bedroom suites and six individually named suites to two-storey three-bedroom cottages and the clifftop Signature Villas. All are non-smoking and have a terrace, balcony or patio facing the Caribbean Sea.
Each has air-conditioning in the bedroom, ceiling fans, a marble bathroom, a Smart TV with satellite channels, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a stocked in-room bar, a coffee machine, complimentary bottled water, a safe, a desk and 110/220 V sockets.
One-Bedroom Beachfront Suite
A suite a few steps from the sand, with a king-bed bedroom, separate living room, kitchenette, walk-in closet and an ocean-view patio. The bathroom has twin vanities, a bathtub and a separate shower; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
One-Bedroom Ocean View Suite
A bright suite with a separate living room, a king-bed bedroom with the resort's signature open wardrobe, and a balcony or terrace facing the sea. Large marble bathroom with twin vanities; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.

A suite with its own furnished rooftop solarium, a separate living room and kitchen, mahogany detailing and a king bed. The bathroom, tiled in yellow and blue, has a bathtub and a separate shower; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
Deluxe Beachfront Two Bedroom Suite
A family suite with a generous sea-facing living room, a separate kitchen area and an oversized balcony or patio. The main bedroom has a king bed and the second two twin beds; sleeps up to five with an extra bed.
Two-Bedroom Beachfront Suite
A suite steps from the beach with a separate living room, a kitchenette and private balconies or patios facing the sunset. The main bedroom has a king bed and the second two twin beds; sleeps up to five with an extra bed.
Two-Bedroom Ocean View Suite

Three Bedroom Villa
A clifftop villa with a private infinity pool, a wraparound terrace and a large kitchen fitted with Viking appliances; each of the three bedrooms takes a king or two twin beds. A dedicated host, transfers and laundry are included; sleeps up to eight.
Four Bedroom Villa
A clifftop villa with an infinity pool, a wraparound terrace, a fully equipped kitchen and dining areas; each of the four bedrooms takes a king or two twin beds. A dedicated host, transfers and laundry are included; sleeps up to ten.
Three-Bedroom Cottage
A two-storey cottage with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchenette and an outdoor dining area downstairs, and a king-bed bedroom upstairs with its own outside entrance and a large sea-view terrace. Two bedrooms have king beds and the third two twins; sleeps up to seven with an extra bed.
Deluxe Three Bedroom Cottage
A two-storey cottage directly on the beach, with a furnished rooftop solarium, a living room, a kitchenette and an outdoor dining area. Two bedrooms have king beds (the upper one with its own entrance and terrace) and the third two twins; sleeps up to eight with an extra bed.
Deluxe Ocean View Room
An intimate room with a king or two twin beds and a private terrace or balcony looking out to the Caribbean Sea. Marble bathroom with a shower over the bathtub; for two guests.
Happy Baie
A sea-view suite with a large terrace and outdoor dining area, a spacious living room and a separate dining area; the king-bed bedroom has its own balcony. Marble bathroom with a bathtub and a separate shower; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
Baie Longue
A one-bedroom suite with a king bed, a large living area, a walk-in wardrobe and a terrace running its full length, with a sunbathing area and some of the best sea views in the resort. The bathroom has a bathtub and a separate shower; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
Baie Orient
A top-floor suite in the main building with a full-length terrace, a kitchenette, a separate living room and a balcony over the gardens. The king-bed bedroom has a covered terrace facing Baie Longue; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
Orleans
One of the resort's finest suites, in the main building, with a full-length terrace, a sunbathing area and an outdoor wet bar, a king-bed bedroom and a large walk-in wardrobe. Marble bathroom with a bathtub and a separate shower; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
Baie Rouge
A suite in the main building with a private outside entrance, an octagonal living room and a wraparound terrace overlooking the pool and the sea. The king-bed bedroom has its own terrace, and there is a kitchenette and walk-in wardrobe; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
Baie Royale
The honeymoon suite above Baie Longue, with three furnished balconies, one of them a solarium with a covered sitting area, and a private plunge pool. A living room, a separate kitchen and a king-bed bedroom and a marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub; sleeps up to three with an extra bed.
