BodyHoliday

About this hotel

General information

BodyHoliday is an all-inclusive wellness resort on the north-western tip of Saint Lucia, set on the crescent of Cariblue Beach with tropical gardens rising behind it. The idea is a beach holiday built around daily bodywork, exercise, balanced eating and better sleep. Above the rest of the grounds stands the Wellness Centre, a large Moorish-style building inspired by the Alhambra in Granada, which gathers treatment rooms, clinics, studios and an Ayurvedic temple under one roof.

The rate covers breakfast, lunch and dinner, drinks by the glass, afternoon tea, group classes, instruction in most sports and one 50-minute treatment for every full day of the stay. Rooms deliberately have no televisions, and the bedrooms follow the resort's own sleep programme. The minimum age is 12, and the resort is a long-standing favourite with solo travellers, who have rooms designed for them. For nine months of the year, themed months bring visiting teachers for yoga, sailing, dance or fitness programmes.

Location

The resort sits directly on Cariblue Beach in the Cap Estate area at the north-western tip of the island, near Gros Islet; the villas look out to Pigeon Island, and Rodney Bay is about 10 minutes away by car. Saint Lucia has two airports: Hewanorra International in the south and George F. L. Charles Airport near Castries. At Hewanorra a resort representative meets guests just after customs; transfers by standard or executive car, or by helicopter to George F. L. Charles Airport and on by car, are arranged by the resort and are not included in the rate.

Spa

The Wellness Centre sits on the hillside above the resort. It holds the treatment rooms, a seawater thalassotherapy pool, a far-infrared sauna, the Eve beauty salon, a Skin Clinic using Thalgo, SkinCeuticals and CACI, the BodyScience better-ageing clinic (acupuncture, cupping, osteopathy) and Pavitra, an Ayurvedic temple for treatments, classes and meditation. On every day apart from arrival and departure, guests choose one 50-minute treatment from a list of ten: relaxing or energising massages, a lime and ginger scrub, an aloe wrap, a coconut-and-spice massage, a pregnancy massage, thalassotherapy or the infrared sauna. Deep-tissue sports massage, Thai yoga massage and other specialist therapies are charged separately. The centre is open all year except 25 December.

Sports & leisure

Activity is central to the concept, and most of it is included in the rate:

  • a fitness studio with free weights and cardio equipment, a dance and yoga studio, the Tree House & Zen Deck in the treetops, a waterside yoga deck and the WellFit Trail; daily classes from yoga, Pilates, t'ai chi and meditation to spinning, aqua fit, Zumba, Caribbean dance and HIIT
  • the Coubaril Valley Tennis Club with two floodlit courts, and the Coubaril Valley Golf Academy with a four-hole practice course, putting green, driving nets and a PGA professional; a championship course nearby can be played for a separate fee
  • archery, basketball, pickleball, beach and pool volleyball, morning walks across Cap Estate to viewpoints over Pigeon Island and Cas en Bas Beach, guided bike rides through the north of the island and a resort triathlon
  • a water-sports centre at the end of the seaside boardwalk: windsurfing, water-skiing, kayaking and tubing, with lessons
  • an ASA-accredited sailing school with a J-24, X-Treme 26 race boats and Hobie Cats; the introductory sail is included, regattas run every Saturday, while ASA courses and skippered private charters are extra
  • a PADI dive centre with its own training pool and a 46-foot dive boat: Discover Scuba Diving and daytime shore dives on the reef in front of the resort are included; boat dives, night dives and certification courses are extra
  • an adventure programme: climbing Gros Piton, an easier Pitons nature walk with a swim at Toraille Falls, a hike up Mount Gimie, whale and dolphin watching, and snorkelling trips to the Pitons
For children

The minimum age is 12. Teenagers have their own menu at the Wellness Centre, and in July and August the WellFit Families programme brings families together for shared training and games.

Restaurants & bars

Dining is included and balances healthy cooking with genuine indulgence; every restaurant has a vegan menu:

  • Cariblue — an open-air beachside restaurant: buffet breakfasts and themed buffet lunches, à la carte dinners, and a West Indian buffet with a steel band on Wednesdays
  • Cariblue Windows — evening tasting menus with wine pairings, served at a counter facing the chefs or at tables along the windows; the menu changes nightly
  • TAO — dinner that blends Eastern and Western influences, in a room open on one side to Cariblue Bay; reservations required
  • Pavilion Grill — a relaxed grill on the boardwalk: steaks, kebabs, fish and seafood, a salad bar and pizza from a clay oven
  • Wellness Café — a seaside terrace under almond trees for coffee, smoothies, salads, sandwiches and light dishes from morning to late afternoon
  • I-TAL — plant-based Rastafarian cooking on a hillside above the bay with its own organic garden; lunch or sunset dinner begins with a garden walk (supplement applies)
  • Clubhouse Bar — the beach bar, where afternoon tea is served daily and shows take place in the evening
  • Piano Bar — pre-dinner drinks to live piano beside Cariblue

On Fridays a beach barbecue comes with live music and fire dancers.

Swimming

The resort faces the secluded crescent of Cariblue Beach, white sand only a few steps from the rooms; the beach itself is public. The sea is safe for swimming, the water stays around 27 °C all year, and snorkelling on the reef off the beach is free. The grounds have three pools, including a seawater thalassotherapy pool, plus a Jacuzzi; the Oceanfront Rooms with Terrace have their own deck with direct access to the water, and the Aurora and Calypso penthouses have plunge pools on their verandahs.

Rooms

Rooms, suites and villas look over the gardens, face the sea or sit right at the water's edge; some rooms are designed specifically for solo travellers, while the hillside villas suit families and groups of friends. Interiors in soft pastels and natural wood follow feng shui principles, and walls are soundproofed.
