About this hotel
General information
Cheval Blanc St-Barth stands on Flamands Beach on Saint-Barthélemy, among tropical gardens laid out by landscape architect Madison Cox. It is the only hotel in the Caribbean to hold France’s Palace distinction. Sixty rooms, suites and bungalows, plus the five-bedroom Villa de France, are spread between the beachfront, the gardens and the hillside above the bay.
The interiors are by Jacques Grange: rattan, warm woods, airy cottons and vivid prints, with handcrafted furniture and an unexpected object or two in every room. Blush pink is the house colour, from staff uniforms to bed linen, and the signature scent, Tropical Chic, with ylang-ylang, pineapple, white flowers and sandalwood, was composed by Guerlain’s head perfumer Thierry Wasser. A mobile of coloured glass beads by Jean-Michel Othoniel, The Constellation of Pegasus, is the hotel’s signature artwork. Days centre on the beach and pools, the Guerlain spa and two restaurants, Langosteria and La Cabane.
Location
The hotel sits on Baie des Flamands on Saint-Barthélemy, a few minutes’ drive from the island’s airport and from Gustavia harbour. Arrival and departure transfers to and from the airport or the harbour are provided by the hotel; the island can be reached by plane, helicopter or boat.
Spa
The Cheval Blanc Spa works with Guerlain, whose rituals are offered nowhere else on the island. It has five treatment rooms, including a double suite, a treatment and relaxation pavilion in the tropical garden used for four-hand massages and facials, and a Guerlain boutique. Signature rituals include Antilles Serenity, a vanilla-scented scrub combined with an enveloping massage, and St-Barth Shape, which pairs a sculpting facial with draining body work.

For children
The Le Carrousel kids’ club builds its games and stories around Aru and Naïa, two young Arawak characters, and the island’s culture. Babies are given cots, highchairs and changing tables, children get their own flip-flops, slippers and beach towels, and there are children’s menus in every restaurant and for in-room dining, plus fresh purées for babies each day. Activities include a garden walk with the head gardener to feed the tortoises, yoga for ages 3–14, cookery and pastry classes, swimming lessons in the pool and birthday parties; babysitting can be arranged (minimum three hours).

Two restaurants are joined by a beach bar, round-the-clock in-room dining and the hotel’s own bakery.

Swimming
The hotel opens straight onto Flamands Beach, with fine white sand and turquoise water; beach staff set out loungers, subject to availability. The pools are open from 8 am until sunset, many suites have private pools and the 2-Bedroom Beach House has a hot tub on its terrace. A beach wheelchair is available for guests with reduced mobility.
Rooms
Sixty rooms, suites and bungalows and the Villa de France are spread across the beachfront, the gardens and the hillside above Flamands Bay, all with interiors by Jacques Grange. Sizes quoted include terraces.
Every room has Tropical Chic bath amenities in the house fragrance, and children are given their own flip-flops, slippers and beach towels.

Set high on the hillside with panoramic sea views, a furnished terrace and a private pool facing Flamands Bay; the bathroom has a bathtub and rain shower. The beach is a five-minute walk down a 60-step garden path; for two guests.
Garden Suite
An intimate junior suite among the gardens with a sitting area, a terrace with sun loungers and a private or shared pool; bathroom with bathtub and rain shower. For two guests.
Tropical Suite
A Jacques Grange suite tucked into the heart of the gardens, with a large sitting area, a garden balcony and a bathroom with bathtub and separate rain shower. For two guests.
Tropical Junior Suite with Pool
