Raffles Doha

About this hotel

General information

Raffles Doha occupies one of the Katara Towers on the Lusail waterfront, a pair of curving towers rising over the water whose silhouette is inspired by Qatar’s traditional crossed swords. It is an all-suite hotel: 132 one- and two-bedroom suites look out over the city or the Gulf, and the interiors are layered with Arabesque motifs, carved ceilings, marble and art, not least the striking kaleidoscope in the public spaces.

Service is the point. Every guest has a personal Raffles Butler, who gathers preferences before arrival and then handles unpacking, pressing, restaurant bookings and cars. Access is limited to resident guests and diners with a reservation, and a smart-casual dress code applies in the lobby and public areas. For grand occasions there is Katara Hall, the city’s largest ballroom, with 22-metre arched ceilings, terraces over the marina and room for up to 2,500 guests.

Location

The hotel stands on Marina East Street in Lusail’s Marina District, with the seaside promenade right outside. Place Vendôme Mall and Doha Golf Club are close by, and Katara Cultural Village, The Pearl and West Bay are a short drive away. Hamad International Airport is about 25 minutes by car, and the butler arranges transport around the city.

Spa

Raffles Spa & Wellness works with Dr. Burgener Switzerland skincare, Subtle Energies ayurvedic oils and the Moroccan marocMaroc range, pairing time-honoured rituals with modern skin science. There are five private Spa Suites for one to three guests, each with its own lounge, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, outdoor pool and treatment area, plus three treatment suites, three beauty salon rooms, separate men’s and women’s areas with steam room, sauna and warm and cold plunge pools, and a spa boutique. The spa is open daily.

Sports & leisure

Resident guests have a 24-hour gym, and there is also a dedicated women’s fitness studio; personal trainers build programmes around individual goals. The hotel arranges cultural journeys across Qatar, from Doha’s heritage and modern landmarks to its preserved desert landscapes, and the butlers keep their own guide to the city. Days can also be spent by the pool on the Aqua deck overlooking the Gulf.

For children

The Kids’ Club welcomes children from birth to 12, daily from 10:00 to 19:00; under-fives need to be accompanied by a nanny. Set in soft pastel and wood tones, it has a carousel, a climbing wall, a yoga studio and gaming stations, with a themed daily programme of painting, crafts, dance, yoga and stretching. Young guests also find a play tent set up in their bedroom.

Restaurants & bars

The restaurants and lounges spread across the tower, from a poolside deck to a two-storey rooftop penthouse.

  • Alba — northern Italian cooking built around white truffles, dinner Tuesday to Saturday, with private rooms and a chef’s table inside the kitchen
  • L’Artisan — refined breakfasts from seasonal produce; its dishes also come to the suites
  • Malaki Lounge — the lobby lounge for coffee, tea, Middle Eastern comfort food and a royal afternoon tea, in the salon, atrium and garden terrace
  • Aqua — Mediterranean food with Turkish touches on the pool deck by the Gulf, from noon into the evening, with shisha
  • Acoustic Music Penthouse — a two-storey rooftop penthouse with Lusail skyline views, live soul and jazz, cocktails and light bites
  • Blue Cigar: The Writer’s Lounge — an intimate lounge lined with rare books, for cigars, drinks and small plates
  • Raffles In-Suite Dining — restaurant dishes served in the suite or on the balcony
Swimming

The outdoor pool on the Aqua deck looks across the Gulf and the skyline; resident guests can swim here from morning to early evening, with the restaurant of the same name alongside. Each of the Spa Suites also has its own outdoor pool.
