About this hotel
General information
The resort sits on Puerto Rico’s north-eastern coast within the Bahía Beach community, framed by two nature sanctuaries. A former coconut farm, it is now a 195-hectare nature reserve of its own: more than two thirds of the land is given over to forest, marshes, freshwater lakes, sand and coral reef, home to over 240 species of plants and animals. A palm-lined crescent of golden beach runs for 3.2 km along the ocean.
There are 147 places to stay, from guest rooms and suites in low-rise buildings set in tropical gardens to a villa and three- to five-bedroom residences let by the night. Interiors take their palette from sand and sea. The draw is the mix of beach and nature: an 18-hole golf course, lakes and canals for kayaking, more than 11 km of trails for walking and cycling, a spa wrapped in greenery and an organic farm that supplies the kitchens. A collection of Spanish and Latin American art, including large bronze sculptures, is on show around the grounds.
Location
The resort lies on the island’s north-eastern coast between the towns of Río Grande and Luquillo, facing the Atlantic Ocean. San Juan international airport is 34 km away, about 30 minutes by car; Old San Juan is 43 km and El Yunque National Forest 14 km. The concierge arranges chauffeured airport transfers in both directions, with the transport company based on the property itself, as well as car hire; a house car is available for local trips.
Spa
The 536 m² Four Seasons Spa is set in tropical gardens, where a path leads to ten secluded treatment rooms, four of them couples’ suites, each with a large window onto the greenery. Before or after a treatment there are men’s and women’s steam rooms and saunas, hot and cold plunge pools and relaxation rooms. The menu covers facials for men and women, massages using local Puerto Rican ingredients, couples’ rituals, exfoliating and hydrating body treatments, manicures, pedicures and hair services; signatures include the Encanto Rum Massage, the Tropical Serenity Massage and the Caribbean Radiance Facial.

Swimming
The heart of the resort is 3.2 km of palm-fringed golden beach set aside for guests, with a reef just offshore for snorkelling. There are two pools: the Seaside Pool, curving like a tropical lagoon, and the multi-level Sugar Beach Pool, whose upper tier is for adults only and whose lower tier is for families. Both have loungers, and private cabanas can be reserved.
