General information
Pestana Vila Sol Golf - Vilamoura is a five-star golf resort in Vilamoura’s so-called Golden Triangle, one of the most sought-after corners of the Algarve. A main building looking over the driving range sits within pine-shaded gardens, where garden buildings hold rooms and suites, each with its own terrace. Some suites are finished in a Portuguese manner, with tiled floors and high timber ceilings, while the largest feel like small Mediterranean villas with a fireplace in the sitting room.
The resort is built around Vila Sol, a 27-hole course by British architect Donald Steel that begins right beside the hotel and its garden rooms. The mild climate makes it a year-round golf base, and players can keep their clubs in dedicated lockers. Families are just as well served, with two outdoor pools, a heated indoor pool, tennis courts and a kids’ club in summer.
Location
The hotel lies in Vilamoura, on the Algarve’s southern coast, within the Golden Triangle: Vilamoura beach is a 7-minute drive away and the marina 5 minutes. The Vilamoura casino is close by; car hire and paid parking with electric-vehicle chargers are available on site.
Spa
Magic Wellness is a massage room offering massages and body treatments with high-quality products, by appointment, daily from 10:00 to 19:00. The hotel’s heated indoor pool and Jacuzzi complete the wellness offer.
Sports & leisure
The Vila Sol Golf Academy and its driving range welcome players of every handicap, and the 27 holes of Vila Sol combine into three par-72 rounds. Beyond golf, guests have:
- tennis courts (paid) and mini golf
- a gym with cardio machines, weight-training equipment and free weights
- bicycle hire for rides to the marina and the beaches
- a games room with pinball, table football, air hockey and a basketball hoop
- boat trips and water sports, and live music on a weekly programme
Twelve rooms are available for meetings and celebrations.
For children
In summer a supervised kids’ club for ages 4–12 runs from a fully equipped space with its own playground. A children’s pool sits slightly raised beside the main pool, so parents can keep an eye on the little ones, and families can choose the Family Garden View, made up of two connecting rooms, or a suite with a sofa bed.
Restaurants & bars
There is one restaurant and two bars; breakfast is a buffet, and room service is available.
- Green Pines — a 200-cover restaurant overlooking the driving range, pairing Algarve flavours with international dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an outdoor terrace
- Bar Prime — the main bar, on the mezzanine above reception, with a lakeside terrace, a snooker table, a piano and live music on a weekly programme
- Pool Bar — a seasonal garden bar by the pool serving juices, cocktails, regional wines and light snacks
Swimming
The hotel is inland, a 7-minute drive from Vilamoura beach. On site there are two outdoor pools with loungers and parasols — the main pool with a children’s pool alongside, and the quiet, oval Villas Pool of about 150 m² in the middle of the gardens — plus a heated indoor pool and a Jacuzzi.
Pets
Dogs and cats up to 15 kg are welcome for a fee, in certain room types only.
Rooms
Most rooms and suites are on the ground floor of garden buildings set apart from the main building, each with a terrace onto the gardens; the Superior rooms and the Presidential Suite are in the main building, with balconies.
Air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, TV, telephone, safe, tea and coffee facilities, a minibar with water and soft drinks on arrival, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, magnifying mirror and toiletries.
Classic Garden View
A ground-floor room in the gardens with two single beds, a terrace facing the garden and a shower room; for two adults.
Superior Garden View
A ground-floor garden room with a double or two single beds, a terrace and a bathroom with bath-and-shower or shower; sleeps two adults and a child.
Family Garden View
Two connecting rooms in the gardens — one with a double bed, one with two singles — with two terraces and two shower rooms; up to four adults.
Superior
A room in the main building near the driving range, with a double or two single beds, a balcony with garden views and a bath with shower; connecting rooms are possible, for two adults and a child.
Suite Garden View
A Portuguese-style suite with tiled floors and high timber ceilings: a bedroom with a double or two single beds, a sitting room with a sofa bed for two, a terrace and a bath with shower; for two adults and two children or three adults.
Suite Garden View Vila Sol
A ground-floor garden suite in the manner of a Mediterranean villa: a bedroom with a double bed, a sitting room with a fireplace and a sofa bed for two, a terrace and a Nespresso machine; up to three adults and a child.
Presidential Suite
An apartment in the main building decorated by Graça Viterbo, with a large sitting room and dining area, a spacious bedroom with a double bed, two bathrooms (private and guest) and a wide balcony over the driving range; up to three adults and a child.
