About this hotel
General information
Savoy Palace is a superior five-star hotel in the heart of Funchal, set on Avenida do Infante with views over the bay and the Atlantic. The contemporary tower is conceived as a tribute to the island’s landscapes and traditions. For all its scale, the hotel is broken up into distinct spaces, each with its own mood, which gives it the feel of a boutique property.
The rooftop belongs to Galáxia, with a restaurant, a bar and an adults-only infinity pool overlooking the city. Further down are the large Solarium pool, the Laurea Spa of around 3,100 m², six restaurants and three bars. The hotel is part of the Savoy Signature collection and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and Virtuoso. All indoor areas are non-smoking.
Location
The hotel stands at Avenida do Infante 25 in central Funchal, a 10–15-minute walk or roughly two minutes by car from the town centre. Pico do Arieiro, the classic spot for sunrise above the clouds, is about 45 minutes away. The hotel arranges private transfers to and from Madeira airport, and guests have a 24-hour underground car park with valet service and fast chargers for electric cars.
Spa
The Laurea Spa draws on the Laurisilva, the laurel forest native to Madeira. Covering some 3,100 m², it has 13 treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, ice fountain, sensory showers, a heated indoor pool, a halotherapy room, a relaxation room, a fitness centre, a beauty salon and a champagne and nail bar. The menu includes Zerobody dry float therapy and a detox day, alongside yoga, Pilates and tai chi classes. The spa welcomes guests aged 16 and over.

The activity programme changes through the year, and some sessions carry a charge.

For children
The Children’s Playroom runs daily with games, books, drawing, film sessions, mini disco, karaoke and kids’ yoga; children are supervised by their parents, while at certain times of year the hotel runs themed activities with its own staff. During dinners and celebrations organised by the hotel, the Fun for All service looks after children aged 4–12 with games, workshops and a meal from the children’s menu. Babysitting, The Little Chef cooking session, a children’s menu, a separate baby menu and a ground-floor children’s pool complete the picture. Children under 2 stay free, and extra beds are available on request.

Stays are offered on a bed-and-breakfast, half-board or full-board basis, and room service runs around the clock. Dinner at any of the restaurants needs a reservation.

The main outdoor pool, the Solarium, sits on the ground floor with Bali beds, with food and drinks served poolside; the children’s pool is next to it. On the 17th floor, the heated Galáxia Skypool is an adults-only infinity pool. A heated indoor pool on the lower floor is open to all guests, and a second indoor pool lies within the Laurea Spa’s thermal area (for a fee). Water temperatures range from 23 to 26 °C. There is no beach of the hotel’s own: guests reach the ocean from the sea platform of neighbouring Royal Savoy, five minutes away across an internal bridge.
