About this hotel
General information
Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon occupies a ten-storey modernist building on the hill directly above Eduardo VII Park, with the famous RITZ letters lit up on its roof. Its façades, walls and floors are clad in more than 40,000 m² of rare marble in a range of colours. The French decorator Henri Samuel shaped the interiors, setting Louis XVI-style 18th-century French refinement against Art Deco geometry and filling the halls with pieces commissioned from Portuguese artists.
The hotel still wears its 1950s identity: rooms combine furniture echoing the original scheme, bold Portuguese artwork and local craftsmanship with up-to-date lighting and sound systems. There are 282 rooms and suites, the gastronomic restaurant CURA, the Ritz Spa with its indoor pool, a seasonal outdoor pool in the gardens and a rooftop running track overlooking the city and the Tagus. For celebrations and meetings there is a ballroom, an open-air terrace and the oak-panelled Camões Room.
Location
The hotel stands on Rua Rodrigo da Fonseca in central Lisbon, overlooking Eduardo VII Park. Marquês de Pombal Square is 650 m away, about a nine-minute walk; Avenida da Liberdade is roughly 1 km, and Bairro Alto about 2 km, some 25 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by car. Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport is 7 km, around 20 minutes by car; the concierge arranges transfers by private car or limousine, complimentary for Specialty Suite guests.
Spa
The Ritz Spa is a multisensory space of Zen-inspired marble and oak, soft music and original artwork. It has four treatment rooms, a eucalyptus-scented sauna, a steam room, a relaxation room and an 18-metre indoor lap pool looking onto the hotel gardens and Eduardo VII Park. The menu covers massages, body treatments and facials with ESPA, Sodashi, ignae and Swiss Perfection products, as well as half- and full-day spa journeys. The signature Seven Hills of Lisbon massage eases legs tired from the city's hills using organic regional ingredients, while Mind & Body Digital Detox by Ritz, an ignae ritual, targets the strain that long screen time leaves on muscles and skin. Yoga classes and a fully equipped Pilates studio complete the offer.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre has floor-to-ceiling windows over the whole city, alongside two private studios and a Pilates studio; certified trainers give one-to-one sessions of yoga, Pilates or gym work. Right beneath the RITZ letters, a 400-metre U-shaped running track circles the roof with views over Lisbon and the Tagus. For swimming there is the year-round 18-metre indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool in the gardens. The concierge team arranges experiences in and around the city:
- a motorcycle sidecar ride up the cobbled lanes of Alfama to the viewpoints
- a day out to Sintra and Cascais
- a private fado concert and sailing trips
- sunrise yoga and mindfulness sessions
- a chocolate masterclass with the hotel's pastry team
For children
There is no kids' club, but families are offered babysitting and in-room childcare, welcome gifts, children's toiletries, nappies and dummies, bottle warmers, pushchairs, cots and rollaway beds. The restaurants have children's menus, weekend brunch at Varanda is a family favourite, and the concierge can plan visits to the zoo or the Oceanarium or a sailing trip. Suites with a separate living room and the two pools make family stays easy.
