General information
W Panama is a design hotel set in a 50-storey tower in Panama City's business district. Its 203 rooms and suites take their cue from the colourful cityscape outside: white-lacquer furniture, high-contrast patterns, large mirrors and floor-to-ceiling windows. Local culture runs through the building, down to the meeting rooms painted after Panama's vividly decorated buses, known locally as diablos rojos.
The hotel revolves around Moro, serving Spanish and international cooking, the graffiti-accented Living Room bar, La Cajita with its panorama of the city, and the WET Deck pool on the 15th floor, with AWAY Spa, its sauna and steam room close by. The W Insider, the hotel's local guide, points guests to the city's music, fashion, design and food. Two Great Rooms and eight daylit meeting rooms host meetings and celebrations for up to 500 guests.
Location
The hotel stands in Panama City's business district. The waterfront is about a five-minute walk away, the Multiplaza Pacific mall 2 km, and 4 km brings you to the Metropolitan Natural Park, visible from the rooms, and to Casco Viejo (Casco Antiguo), the city's 17th-century historic quarter and a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Panamá Viejo, around 15 minutes by car. The archaeological site of Panamá Viejo is 6 km away and the Panama Canal 12 km, with a visitor centre at the Miraflores Locks. A metro station is nearby. Panama City's international airport is 24 km away, around 30 minutes by road, and the city's domestic airport 6.7 km; the hotel does not run a shuttle, and there is parking on site.
Spa
AWAY Spa has a thermal area with a sauna, a steam room, a whirlpool and rain showers, plus a relaxation room. The menu covers Swedish and deep-tissue massage, hot volcanic stone massage, a four-hand massage and a prenatal massage, along with rituals built on tropical ingredients: a cacao body wrap, and a mineral mud wrap with a bamboo scrub. Couples can share a lavender ritual; facials range from hydrating and deep-cleansing to anti-ageing care with LED therapy, and there are express treatments, foot reflexology and waxing.
Sports & leisure
The FIT gym is free for guests, with cardio machines, ellipticals and exercise bikes, stair climbers, free weights and strength equipment. The FIT studio holds sunset yoga sessions, and the outdoor WET Deck pool on the 15th floor looks out over the city. The W Insider helps guests shape their own route through the city, from Casco Viejo to the Panama Canal and the Metropolitan Natural Park.
Restaurants & bars
There are four venues, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
- Moro — Spanish and international cooking based on Panamanian produce from farm and sea; breakfast, lunch and dinner
- La Cajita — local dishes, craft cocktails and live music with a panorama of the city
- Living Room — an evening cocktail bar with vibrant interiors and graffiti
- WET Deck Bar — the poolside bar on the 15th floor, with fruity drinks, light bites and sunset views over the city
Swimming
The outdoor WET Deck pool sits on the tower's 15th floor: a place to soak up the sun, with a bar serving drinks and light bites and a terrace overlooking the city.
Pets
One pet per room is accepted, within a weight limit, and a fee per stay applies. Pets receive a welcome kit, and guests sign a liability waiver for any damage at check-in.
Rooms
203 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and city views; some also look out over the port at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. All rooms are non-smoking.
Every room has the signature W bed with a pillowtop mattress, featherbed, duvet and cotton linen, modular seating by the window, a 50-inch TV with cable channels, Wi-Fi and a docking station, a coffee and tea maker, complimentary bottled water, a W MixBar with snacks and drinks, a safe, an iron, a hairdryer, a lighted make-up mirror, bathrobes, Davines toiletries, and a rain shower or deep soaking tub.
Standard Room
A city-view room with a shower, with either a king-size bed (37–42 m², up to three guests) or two queen-size beds (41–42 m², up to four guests).
Deluxe Room
A roomier city-view room with either a king-size bed (44 m², up to three guests) or two queen-size beds (44–48 m², up to four guests).
Urban Suite
A suite with a king-size bed, a living area with a sofa, and floor-to-ceiling windows facing the city. Sleeps up to three.
Supreme Suite
A corner suite with a king-size bed, a living area, a whirlpool bath for two and floor-to-ceiling windows over the city. Sleeps up to three.
Penthouse II
A penthouse with a king-size bed, a living room, a dining area, a whirlpool bath for two and city views. Sleeps up to three.
Penthouse I
The hotel's largest suite, at the top of the tower: a king-size bedroom, living and dining areas, a private lounge with a bar and a built-in foosball table, floor-to-ceiling city views, a sunken whirlpool bath for two, a generous rain shower, a dressing room and a lit vanity. Sleeps up to three.
