General information
The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort Panama sits on the country’s Pacific coast at Buenaventura, in the province of Coclé, where a golf course, a lake, gardens and a beach club spread out between the palms and the ocean. At its heart stands an old corotú tree: guests gather around it by day, and in the evening the Japanese restaurant sets its tables beneath the canopy. The architecture pairs clean modern lines with Panamanian touches — high ceilings, tall windows, wood and stone, marble or hardwood floors, local textiles, handmade cushions and woven chunga baskets.
The resort works as well for couples as for families, with pools right by the beach, an 18-hole golf course, a sports club and marina, a high ropes course, Corotú Spa and six restaurants and bars. Rooms, suites and the villa all have their own balcony or terrace looking over gardens, pools, the golf course or the water; the largest stay is a four-bedroom villa with a kitchen and its own pool.
Location
The resort lies at Buenaventura near Río Hato, on the Pacific shore of Coclé province, about an hour and a half by road from Panama City, with the beaches of Playa Blanca and El Faro close by. Panama City’s international airport is about 148 km away; the resort runs an airport transfer on advance booking, and valet parking is complimentary for guests. It makes a good base for the hills and waterfalls of El Valle de Antón, for hiking and for off-road drives.
Spa
Corotú Spa has five multi-purpose treatment rooms and a hydrotherapy area with therapy baths, rain showers, two Jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms, plus a beauty salon. The menu draws on old traditions: body scrubs and wraps, facials, manicures and pedicures.
Sports & leisure
Buenaventura Golf Club’s 18-hole, par-72 course runs to about 6.75 km across some 50 ha of seaside land: broad fairways, sand bunkers, water hazards and around 300 mature corotú trees, with the signature 16th hole set between them. There is a driving range, a putting green, lessons, equipment hire and a pro shop, as well as the Cobra Performance Center, where an instructor spends an hour and a half working through each swing with body sensors, high-speed cameras and 3D analysis; the clubhouse is a converted stable.

For children
Children have their own pools — one beside the main resort pool and another at El Faro Beach Club — and babysitting can be arranged on request.
Restaurants & bars
The resort has six restaurants and bars, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
- Criollo Restaurant — regional cooking built on local produce; breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Tagua Grill — Panamanian dishes and drinks by the ocean, with service out at the pool
- El Faro Beach Club — seafood with Peruvian and Panamanian flavours on the beach
- Tai Kai Sushi & Martini — sushi, Japanese dishes and a teppanyaki table, with evening dining under the old corotú tree
- Hoyo 19 — a snack bar overlooking the golf course, with food, wine and spirits
- Palapa Bar — a lakeside bar with tapas, a broad drinks list and music
- Lobby Bar — cocktails made with local ingredients at a marble bar among rattan chairs and greenery
The main pool also has a swim-up bar.
Swimming
El Faro Beach Club has a group of pools a few steps from the beach, looking out to the ocean, among them a children’s pool. The main resort pool, with its whirlpool, is ringed by palms and has a swim-up bar for adults. Cabanas and palapa shades can be hired on the beach.
Pets
One small pet per room is welcome for a fee, in garden-view rooms only. Pets stay on a lead around the resort, except in the water, and are welcome on the beach.
Rooms
Rooms, suites and the villa combine modern design with Panamanian touches — high ceilings, large windows, wood, stone and local textiles — and their balconies or terraces face the gardens, pools, golf course or water.
Every room has a balcony or terrace, air conditioning, a pillow-top mattress with a duvet, a separate bath and shower, robes and slippers, a lighted make-up mirror, a hairdryer, a coffee and tea maker, a mini fridge and minibar, a safe, a desk, an iron and board, satellite TV, complimentary Wi-Fi and 24-hour in-room dining.
