About this hotel
General information
Six Senses Zighy Bay occupies a secluded cove on Oman’s Musandam Peninsula, where the bare limestone flanks of the Hajar Mountains drop almost sheer into the Gulf of Oman. The resort is laid out like a traditional Omani village, with palm-shaded sandy lanes, low buildings of local stone and timber, and a 1.6 km private sand beach curving along the bay.
Each of the 82 villas has its own pool, a stone-walled garden and a shaded summer house, from one-bedroom villas up to the three-bedroom beachfront Retreats and the four-bedroom Private Reserve. Much of the produce comes from the resort’s organic garden and its farm near Dibba. Days move easily between slow hours by the water and the peninsula’s adventures: guests can arrive by paraglider from the mountain above, dive the coral reefs, sail the fjord-like coast on the resort’s own dhow or dine on a clifftop almost 300 m above the bay.
Location
The resort sits in Zighy Bay near the town of Dibba on the northern Musandam Peninsula, which is reached through the United Arab Emirates. Dubai International Airport is 120 km away, about two hours by road via the Dibba border crossing; the resort arranges airport meet-and-greet and limousine transfers. The final stretch is a 4x4 drive over the mountains, and guests may finish the journey by paraglide into the bay or arrive by speedboat.
Spa
Six Senses Spa is set in an organic garden between the mountains and the sea. It has nine treatment rooms, two Arabian hammams, a steam room, sauna and ice-bucket shower, heated marble loungers in the changing rooms, two relaxation rooms, a beauty bar for manicures and pedicures, outdoor and indoor yoga pavilions (the indoor one equipped for aerial yoga) and a gym. At the Alchemy Bar guests blend their own scrubs and oils from local herbs with the resident alchemist. Signature treatments include a traditional Moroccan hammam with black soap and rhassoul clay and the Zighy Bay Journey, an Arabian massage for the back, neck and head scented with frankincense and oud. Programmes cover sleep, detox, yoga, fitness and weight management, alongside sessions with visiting practitioners.
