ROKI Collection Queenstown

About this hotel

General information

ROKI Collection Queenstown is an all-suite hotel on the shore of Lake Wakatipu in the centre of Queenstown. The building is by Sumich Chaplin Architects and the interiors by New Zealand designer Virginia Fisher, who worked in a quiet palette with hand-selected furniture and careful craftsmanship.

Fifteen suites range from 50 to 749 m², and every one has a fireplace and a view of the lake and The Remarkables. Director of Culinary Paul Froggatt, who pairs New Zealand produce with European experience, oversees the evening restaurant Essence, a glass-walled seafood terrace, a library bar and a mountain dining room reached by helicopter. The ROKI Pure wellness sanctuary is reserved for hotel guests.

Location

The hotel stands at 2 Brunswick Street, on the Lake Wakatipu waterfront within central Queenstown. Queenstown Airport is 15 minutes from the town centre, and the hotel arranges transfers. Each evening from 5 pm to 9 pm guests can use the house car for drop-offs and pick-ups around town.

Spa

ROKI Pure, open only to hotel guests, has a pool, jacuzzi, ice bath and sauna. Its signature rituals were created with The Tides Wellness: BREATHE, a two-and-a-half-hour hot-stone massage and facial; REMEDY, a ritual for deep sleep; RADIANCE, a lifting facial; ENERGISE, an infrared wrap with deep fascia work; FLOW, a lymphatic ritual; and PAUSE, a 90-minute massage. Resets are treatments taken in the suite, Rewilds fly guests by helicopter to remote mountain locations, and a sleep concierge helps tailor rest.

Sports & leisure

There is a 24-hour gym, and the ROKI Pure pool and thermal area are open to every guest. The concierge designs private outings: hiking and biking, golf, helicopter flights over the Southern Alps, private boat trips on the lake, Central Otago winery tours with pinot noir tastings and a gourmet lunch in the Rees Valley.

For children

Families have the 2-Bedroom Family Suite, with its own children’s bedroom, games in the lounge and a family butler on call; the three-, four- and seven-bedroom suites give every bedroom its own bathroom.

Restaurants & bars

All dining is led by Director of Culinary Paul Froggatt.

  • Essence — modern New Zealand fine dining in the evening, with The Journey tasting menu and paired wines
  • The Terrace — a glass-enclosed third-floor terrace with two fireplaces and views of the lake and The Remarkables; seafood at lunch and dinner, including king crab and langoustine
  • The Library Bar — brass ceilings and conversation nooks, a deep wine cellar, bespoke cocktails and bar snacks
  • Rees Valley by ROKI — a dining retreat for hotel guests at a secluded spot in the Rees Valley beyond Glenorchy, five minutes away by helicopter
Skiing

In winter Queenstown is the base for the Coronet Peak and Remarkables ski fields, both a drive from the hotel; the concierge can also arrange heli-skiing.
