About this hotel
General information
Hotel Okura Amsterdam brings Japanese hospitality to the Dutch capital: a 23-storey tower beside a canal in De Pijp, rising above the low-rise streets of the city’s south. Its guiding idea is omotenashi, the Japanese art of anticipating a guest’s needs before they are voiced, and it shapes both the service and the setting — wide, calm public spaces and restrained interiors of warm wood, clean lines and soft light, where Eastern and Dutch touches sit side by side.
Food is what the hotel is best known for. Several restaurants range from the gastronomic Ciel Bleu on the 23rd floor to the traditional Japanese Yamazato beside the hotel’s own Japanese garden, where a cherry tree blooms each spring. Nagomi Spa, with an indoor pool, occupies the third floor, and the upper floors look out over canals, the Amstel and the rooftops of the old centre. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and is entirely non-smoking.
Location
The hotel stands in De Pijp, a lively neighbourhood of cafés, bookshops and wine bars just south of the centre. The Museum Quarter with the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, the Vondelpark and the Albert Cuyp Market are all within walking distance, and nearby tram and metro stops connect quickly to Amsterdam Centraal. Schiphol Airport is about 15 minutes by car or 30 minutes by public transport; the concierge arranges airport transfers. There is a taxi stand at the entrance, and drivers can use valet parking, the on-site car park and EV charging points.
Spa
Nagomi Spa — the name means “to calm” in Japanese — occupies the hotel’s third floor. Its menu draws on treatments from around the world, using French Sothys products, and ends in a relaxation area with a tea lounge. Nagomi Gym & Wellness, open to every hotel guest, adds an indoor pool, a hot tub, a sauna, a steam room and a solarium. Spa treatments are for guests aged 18 and over.
Sports & leisure
The gym is open around the clock, with a full range of cardio and strength equipment and personal trainers who build individual programmes. The hotel has its own private jetty for canal tours and private transfers by water, and the concierge books private canal cruises, sunset ones included, as well as cycling tours through the historic neighbourhoods. Guests can rent the hotel’s own bikes, and chauffeured cars, with or without a guide, are available for trips around the city and further afield.
For children
Families can book adjoining rooms, and junior suites and suites take a baby cot or an extra bed for a third guest. The concierge arranges a babysitter on request, and Serre has a children’s menu. Spa treatments are limited to guests aged 18 and over.
Restaurants & bars
Dining here moves between European fine cooking and Japanese tradition, and 24-hour in-room dining draws on the menus of the restaurants and bars.

- Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka — teppanyaki, with meat, seafood and vegetables cooked on the hot iron plate in front of guests; set menus only
