About this hotel
General information
De L’Europe Amsterdam sits on the Amstel beside Muntplein and the Munttoren, in the very heart of the old city. A defensive tower of the city wall once stood on this spot, followed by an inn; the present building went up at the end of the nineteenth century and has been one of Amsterdam’s best-known addresses ever since. Interiors pair timeless classic design with modern comfort, and windows look out over the river or the historic centre.
There are 107 rooms, 55 of them suites, including a penthouse that extends to five bedrooms. The hotel’s signature is the 't Huys wing, where Amsterdam names in fashion, art, film, music and design have each created a suite of their own, with the IN-HUYS concept store and The Wunderkammer floral atelier on the ground floor. Under the same roof are the gastronomic restaurant Flore, a brasserie with a terrace on the water, a trattoria, a historic bar and a hidden cocktail bar, plus a spa with a pool, several private event rooms and a sundeck with its own landing stage. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Location
The hotel stands on the Amstel at Muntplein, a short walk from the Nine Streets and the canal ring. Trams 4 and 24 stop at Muntplein and the Rokin metro station is close by; Amsterdam Centraal is about 10 minutes away by metro or tram. Trains from Schiphol Airport run to Centraal every 15 minutes and take 17 minutes. The concierge arranges private sedan transfers, and doormen offer valet parking around the clock.
Spa
Spa & Wellness on the lower ground floor brings together treatment rooms, saunas, a jacuzzi and a heated indoor pool. The menu covers high-performance Biologique Recherche facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and grooming, and the spa shop sells skincare to take home. Hotel guests use the wellness facilities free of charge throughout their stay.
Sports & leisure
The fitness studio, open 24 hours, is equipped with Technogym cardio and strength machines, free weights and exercise balls, and a personal trainer can be booked. The sommelier team hosts private tastings in the wine cellar. Marie’s Sundeck has its own landing stage, so canal outings with the hotel’s boat partners start right at the door. The concierge plans routes and experiences across the city, and guests in the 't Huys suites are offered programmes by the partner brands, from a private film tour to a styling session.
For children
Families are well provided for, with connecting rooms and suites that share a private entrance hall, thoughtful amenities for young guests, and the hotel mascot Little Marie to keep children company. An extra bed is free for children up to 12, and children under four have breakfast at no charge. Trattoria Graziella and Brasserie Marie suit family meals, and the hotel suggests canal cruises, NEMO Science Museum, ARTIS zoo, the Rijksmuseum and the Vondelpark for days out.
Restaurants & bars
Dining revolves around five venues and a lounge overlooking the Amstel.
- Flore — conscious fine dining built on Dutch micro-seasonal produce, with a separate plant-based Botanical menu
- Brasserie Marie — a Parisian-style brasserie with a Riviera mood and the sur l’eau terrace right on the river
- Trattoria Graziella — authentic Italian cooking in a warm, relaxed room
- Freddy’s Bar — a historic, old-Amsterdam bar with live jazz, walk-in only
- Chapter 1896 — a hidden speakeasy cocktail bar, by reservation

Swimming
The heated indoor pool lies within the spa on the lower ground floor and is open to hotel guests daily from 8:00 to 20:00, alongside a jacuzzi and saunas.
Pets
Pets are accepted for a cleaning fee. Dogs up to knee height may join their owners on a lead in the lounge, the bars and on the terraces; only assistance dogs are allowed in the restaurants.
