About this hotel
General information
The Strand occupies an early 20th-century building on Strand Road in downtown Yangon, looking out over the Yangon River. It is a small, all-suite hotel of 32 suites, each with soaring ceilings, teak floors and careful architectural detail paired with modern comforts.
Its defining feature is a round-the-clock butler service: butlers unpack luggage, bring meals to the suite and arrange transfers and outings in the city. The hotel has The Strand Restaurant, The Strand Café, Sarkies Bar, Strand Spa, an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, quiet lounges and a landscaped courtyard, along with a business centre and function rooms.
Location
The hotel stands on Strand Road in central Yangon, above the Yangon River, about a 5-minute walk from Sule Pagoda, with the streets of Chinatown close by and Yangon Central Railway Station a short taxi ride away. Yangon International Airport is around 30 minutes by car; airport transfers are arranged by the hotel on advance request.
Spa
Strand Spa is a quiet retreat within the hotel, offering both traditional and contemporary spa treatments. The largest suite, the Strand Suite, has its own treatment room.
Sports & leisure
Guests have an outdoor pool and a well-equipped fitness centre, and the hotel organises a series of sessions and outings:
- sunrise yoga in the hotel garden and a sound-bath session with crystal singing bowls and chimes
- a cooking class with a local chef on the foundations of Myanmar cuisine, preparing mohinga, Myanmar chicken curry and fermented tea-leaf salad
- an introduction to traditional music, with a master musician playing the saung-gauk harp and the bamboo pattala xylophone
- craft workshops in clay modelling, rattan weaving and hand-weaving of silk and cotton
- a class in Myanmar floral arrangement
- a morning walk in the park by Kandawgyi Lake with views of Shwedagon Pagoda, and a visit to Shwedagon Pagoda itself
For children
Children can join the Junior Chefs session, putting on small chef’s aprons to decorate cookies and cupcakes with the kitchen team before tasting them.
Restaurants & bars
Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner are spread across three venues, with a kitchen rooted in traditional Myanmar ingredients and recipes:
- The Strand Restaurant — modern European and French cooking in an intimate 45-seat dining room, with a seasonal à la carte menu and culinary evenings; a private dining room seats 10
- The Strand Café — breakfast, light meals and traditional high tea among rattan armchairs
- Sarkies Bar — the signature Strand Sour, classic cocktails, wine and single malt whisky

Swimming
There is no beach; swimming is in the outdoor pool in the hotel garden, where drinks and snacks are served.

32 suites in four categories, from the 55 m² Junior Suite to the 200 m² Strand Suite, all with high ceilings and teak floors and each designed for two adults.

Junior Suite
A suite with a king bed, soaring ceilings and teak floors, and a bathroom with a bathtub and rain shower. For 2 adults.
Deluxe Suite
A larger suite with a generous lounge area and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower. A king bed or two single beds; for 2 adults.
Premier Suite
A suite with a separate sitting room and sweeping views over the city, plus a bathroom with a bathtub and shower. A king bed or two single beds; for 2 adults.
Strand Suite
The hotel’s largest suite: a separate bedroom with a king bed, a spacious living room, a private spa treatment room, a dining room for up to 8 guests, a kitchen and a minibar. For 2 adults.
