La Villa des Orangers

About this hotel

General information

La Villa des Orangers is a riad hotel in the medina of Marrakech, set at the foot of the Koutoubia Mosque and close to Jemaa el-Fna square. The house was built in the 1930s as a private residence around an inner courtyard and later became a hotel of 33 rooms and suites, arranged around patios, a garden and terraces. It is a member of Relais & Châteaux.

Its interiors are the work of Marrakech master craftsmen: marble, carved plaster, cedarwood, hand-cut zellige and mosaic, marquetry, hand-worked metal and fine fabrics, set alongside antique furniture and contemporary art. Three pools, a spa with a 60 m² hammam, a rooftop facing the Koutoubia and a restaurant pairing French and Moroccan cooking keep the calm of a private home, even with the old city just beyond the walls.

Location

In the heart of the Marrakech medina, at the foot of the Koutoubia Mosque and close to Jemaa el-Fna square and the souks of the old city. The hotel arranges private-car transfers from the airport, and two car parks are next to the hotel.

Spa

Spa Ec(h)o centres on a 60 m² hammam with three massage rooms, one of them for couples. Treatments draw on oriental wellbeing traditions and techniques handed down through generations; the classic hammam ritual combines black soap, orange-blossom foam and a ghassoul clay mask. The spa is also open to non-residents.

Sports & leisure

  • private guided walks through Marrakech on architecture, crafts, food or art, including places off the usual routes
