Tamuda Bay

Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay

About this hotel

General information

Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay sits on Morocco's northern Mediterranean coast, between Tétouan and Tangier, where green mountains come down almost to the water's edge. The resort spreads over 10 hectares behind a 700-metre sandy beach, its cream-coloured buildings, restrained and Mediterranean in spirit, arranged in two rows either side of a green garden corridor. There are 55 suites and villas, looking out to the sea, the gardens or the mountains.

The lobby sets the tone, its walls lined with thousands of seashells and its doors opening onto the gardens and the beach. Interiors draw on mineral and maritime motifs — stylised mosaics, marble, works of art — with modern technology kept out of sight. Much of the service is invisible too: staff move through underground tunnels, leaving guests with quiet, the sea and the attention of butlers and concierges. The resort's defining features are the medical Medi-Spa, restaurants that roam the whole Mediterranean, and its own boat house with Riva yachts.

Location

The hotel lies on Tamuda Bay, between M'diq and Fnideq, on the Alboran Sea — the westernmost reach of the Mediterranean — with views of the Cabo Negro headland and the mountains inland. The hotel arranges private transfers from Tétouan and Tangier airports, with fast-track assistance at Tangier. Its concierges organise trips to Tétouan's UNESCO-listed medina, the ancient site of Tamuda, Tangier and the mountain town of Chefchaouen.

Spa

The 4,300 m² Medi-Spa pairs a classic spa with a medical practice: five medical treatment rooms and a team of doctors, naturopaths, acupuncturists, Ayurvedic therapists and aesthetic-medicine specialists. Longevity programmes begin with a detailed health assessment and rest on five pillars — nutrition, movement, sleep, a calm mind and work on the body's major systems — with the hotel's restaurants adapting menus to each programme. Treatments include thalassotherapy, light therapy, Watsu in a warm pool, massages, seaweed wraps, foot reflexology and facials. The traditional Évasion hammam by the Moroccan brand marocMaroc includes a kessa-glove scrub, and signature wraps use Atlas ghassoul clay, saffron, orange-blossom honey, argan and rose water. There are also hairdressing, beauty and nail salons.

Sports & leisure

The spa's fitness area has modern equipment and personal trainers; yoga and Pilates (mat and reformer) take place in a first-floor relaxation room with sea views, and aqua-fitness in the pool. Multi-sports grounds host padel, basketball and football, and a golf course lies nearby among the pines and eucalyptus of Cabo Negro. The iroko-wood boat house at the southern end of the beach is the hub for life on the water: full-day, half-day and sunset trips aboard a Riva Aquariva or Riva Dolceriva, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, water-skiing, foiling, towed rides, kayaks, paddleboards, waterbikes, e-foils and Seabob underwater scooters. It also runs PADI dive courses, snorkelling, shore dives and night dives; all water activities depend on the weather. The concierges arrange excursions across northern Morocco.

For children

La Plage de Lila, the kids' club, welcomes children aged 4–12 every day. Its playrooms open onto 930 m² of gardens with a children's pool and a paddling pool, and the programme runs from mosaic and calligraphy workshops, card-making, gardening, insect hunts and dressing up to cooking classes (pizza, crêpes and mocktails), treasure hunts, padel tournaments, beach games and boat, pedalo or kayak outings. Children aged 6–12 have their own water-sports and first-dive programme, the spa offers gentle treatments for 5–12-year-olds and 12–16-year-olds alongside a parent, and babysitters are available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Four restaurants and a bar-lounge cover the Mediterranean and well beyond.

  • Coccinella — Italian cooking from breakfast to dinner: antipasti, parmigiana, fresh pasta and signature dishes
  • Le Méditerranée — Spanish restaurant overlooking the beach, with paellas, seafood and grills at lunch and dinner
  • La Table — restaurant set above the resort with sweeping sea views, serving Mediterranean cooking with Asian accents
  • Pool Beach — at the water's edge between the beach and the infinity pool: tapas, seafood, sushi, grills and burgers with South American and Asian influences, also served at the sun loungers
  • Alboran Club — bar-lounge with sea views, for tea between swims and cocktails in the evening
Swimming

The hotel's private beach runs for 700 metres of golden sand, with sun loungers on the sand and around the infinity pool set between the beach and Pool Beach. Beside the Medi-Spa, a quiet pool of warm water lies beneath a suspended sphere symbolising the moon, and the spa has its own Watsu pool. The Prestige, Princiere and Royal villas and the beachfront Privilege suites each have a private pool and direct access to the beach.
