The Oberoi, Marrakech

About this hotel

General information

The Oberoi, Marrakech spreads over more than 11 hectares of gardens, citrus orchards and centuries-old olive groves on the outskirts of Marrakech, with the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains on the horizon. A 120-metre water channel, the Grand Canal, cuts through the estate, overlooked by the restaurant terraces.

The architecture blends Moroccan palace tradition with Andalusian influences: hand-carved ceilings, hand-painted zellige tiles and sculpted wall panels. The central courtyard, The Patio, takes its cue from the 14th-century Ben Youssef Madrasa. Most of the accommodation takes the form of villas with their own pools and gardens, while a round-the-clock butler service, a library and bicycles are there for every guest.

Location

The resort lies on the road to Ouarzazate, set among orchards outside the city: Jemaa el-Fnaa square and the old medina are about 25 minutes away, and Marrakech Menara Airport is 17.5 km, or roughly 25 minutes by car. The hotel arranges return airport transfers itself.

Spa

The Oberoi Spa sits beside a natural pool of water among olive and citrus trees and is reserved for hotel guests. Private treatment suites host Western and Moroccan rituals, hammam rituals and herbal therapies; body and facial treatments use ALQVIMIA products, while the Maison d’ASA sensory journeys are built around organic ingredients. A sauna and steam room complete the facilities.
