La Sultana Marrakech

About this hotel

General information

La Sultana Marrakech is a 28-room hotel in the Kasbah quarter, inside the UNESCO-listed medina of Marrakech. It is made up of five restored riads joined together over time, and part of it occupies a former granary whose vaults now form its patios. The restoration was carried out with the historic monuments authority, and master craftsmen brought back the carved woodwork, zellige tilework and sculpted plaster.

A private collection of Orientalist painting — more than 350 works by some 90 artists — hangs throughout the riads rather than in a separate gallery. A heated pool sits among the gardens, while 2,000 m² of panoramic roof terraces look over the medina, the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque and, on clear days, the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. The hotel also has a spa with a traditional hammam, two restaurants and a rooftop bar.

Location

The hotel lies in the Kasbah, a calmer and largely residential part of the medina, 50 m from the Saadian Tombs. On foot it is 850 m to El Badi Palace, about 1 km to Bahia Palace and 1.2 km to Jemaa el-Fnaa square and the main entrance to the souks. Marrakech Menara Airport is about 5 km away, roughly 15 minutes by car, and Casablanca airport about 2.5 hours; the concierge arranges private transfers. Cars stop at a drop-off point 30 m from the entrance, where staff take the luggage.

Spa

The intimate spa brings together a traditional hammam, massage rooms, a heated indoor jacuzzi and a hair salon. Its menu draws on Moroccan hammam and massage rituals, including a signature argan-oil massage, alongside treatments based on plants and essential oils inspired by Mediterranean tradition; facials use Darphin products. Balanced menus and a personal coach are available for tailor-made wellness stays.

Restaurants & bars

There are two restaurants and a rooftop bar, backed by a cellar of more than 3,000 bottles across some 250 labels and a sommelier to guide the choice.

  • La Table de La Sultana — refined evening dining with Moroccan and French influences and two seasonal menus
  • La Table du Souk — lunch on the Bahia riad's roof terrace: market-driven Moroccan cooking and street food, with views of the medina's monuments
  • Odette Rooftop Bar & Mezzé — a broad terrace above the medina for cocktails spiced with Moroccan flavours, cosmopolitan dishes and mezze to share

Breakfast combines dishes ordered from the menu — Moroccan, Oriental and Western — with a buffet of pastries, fruit and juices.

Swimming

The pool, heated to 28 °C all year, sits at the centre of the hotel among the gardens and is reserved for hotel guests; Moroccan mint tea is served beside it.
