Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel

About this hotel

General information

Monte-Carlo Beach has received guests since 1929 on a pine-covered promontory just past the Monaco border, a few minutes from the heart of the principality. Run by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, it belongs to Relais & Châteaux and holds Green Globe Platinum certification. It is a small hotel of 40 rooms and suites with interiors by India Mahdavi.

Life here turns towards the water: an Olympic-size seawater pool, a private beach club with striped cabins, four restaurants headed by Marcel Ravin’s two-Michelin-starred Elsa, a spa in a villa among the pines, and padel courts. The mood is closer to a seaside club than to a grand palace hotel. At the tip of the cape stands the private Villa La Vigie. The hotel opens for the season, from mid-April to mid-October.

Location

The hotel stands on Avenue Princesse Grace at the Monaco border, just inside Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and a few minutes from the centre of Monte-Carlo. In season a shuttle boat carrying up to six passengers makes the roughly 15-minute crossing from the Yacht Club pier in Port Hercule to the hotel’s landing stage at Pointe La Vigie.

Spa

The spa occupies a villa among the pines, looking over the Mediterranean. Treatments use PAOMA, an organic French skincare line; there is a hammam, and private yoga, meditation and Pilates sessions are held outdoors.

Sports & leisure

The Olympic-size pool, with two diving boards, hosts aquagym, aquabike and swimming lessons. Two padel courts are free for hotel guests, and a 40 m² air-conditioned gym with sea views is open to adults from early morning until late evening, with personal coaching on offer. Group yoga and Pilates classes take place outdoors, water bikes, pedalos, paddleboards and kayaks are free for hotel guests, and tennis, squash and golf are available within the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer resort.

For children

The Monte-Carlo Kids Club by Petit VIP takes children aged 4–12 from 10:00 to 18:00, free for hotel guests, with more than a dozen rotating themes — cooking, nature, sport, circus skills and water games — plus a vegetable garden and an art workshop; parents stay on the premises. A separate paddling pool beside the Olympic pool is set aside for children under three.

Restaurants & bars

Dining follows the season and happens almost entirely outdoors, facing the sea.

  • Elsa — Marcel Ravin’s two-Michelin-starred Mediterranean cooking with a marine focus and sustainably caught fish, on a sea-view terrace or in an India Mahdavi interior
  • La Vigie Zanoni — Simone Zanoni’s Italian cooking on Pointe La Vigie, right above the sea, reached by a path through the pines or by boat
  • Le Deck — Mediterranean seafood for sharing at lunch, on a terrace overlooking the Olympic pool
  • Maona — Greek dishes for sharing, with a bar and DJ sets
  • Les Cabanas — simple beach cooking, from organic wellness dishes to wood-fired pizza
  • Pool Bar — ice cream, fresh fruit, smoothies and light savoury plates by the pool
Swimming

The Olympic-size pool is filled with seawater heated to 28 °C, lined with blue glass tiles and 0.8–3.5 m deep; designer Dorothée Delaye has reworked its surroundings with daybeds and cabanas. Sea swimming is from the private beach club, lined with 90 striped cabins, tents and loungers, where food and drinks are brought to guests’ places.

Pets

Pets are accepted in rooms for a daily charge and are welcome at some of the hotel’s restaurants.
