About this hotel
General information
Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo opened in 1886 in the heart of the Carré d’Or, a few metres from Casino Square. Behind the Belle Époque façade lie a lobby beneath an Art Deco glass roof, seasonal floral installations and an art collection with works by Picasso, Warhol and Bacon. The hotel was entirely reinvented in the 1980s, and since 2004 Jacques Garcia has shaped its look, from the rooms to Les Ambassadeurs and the Lobby Bar.
Christophe Cussac has run the kitchens since 2004, and his Les Ambassadeurs holds two Michelin stars. The Japanese restaurant Yoshi was designed by Didier Gomez, and the Odyssey pool is the only one in the world designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Spa Metropole by Guerlain is run in partnership with Maison Guerlain. The hotel holds two Michelin Keys and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Location
The hotel stands on avenue de la Madone in the Carré d’Or of Monte-Carlo, steps from Casino Square and its gardens. Nice international airport is 30 km away: about 45 minutes by limousine, or a 7-minute helicopter flight plus a 15-minute transfer from the heliport. Monaco Monte-Carlo station is a 15-minute walk, and Port Hercule and Port de Fontvieille are 5 minutes by taxi.
Spa
Spa Metropole by Guerlain is one of the few Guerlain spaces on the Riviera. White volumes, golden wood and tissue-paper sculptures by the artist Claudine Drai frame ten treatment rooms, among them the single Rose Chérie Suite and the Impérial Suite for two. There is a hammam, sauna, sensory shower, ice fountain and cold plunge, a Technogym fitness room, a Pilates and yoga studio, a Guerlain boutique lounge and a Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio by Bastien Gonzalez.
Sports & leisure
The Odyssey pool, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, holds heated seawater all year and is reserved for hotel guests and club members; eighteen backlit engraved glass panels trace Ulysses’s voyage, and a hanging garden of palms, cypresses and loungers surrounds it. The spa has a fitness room and a Pilates and yoga studio. The hotel arranges private tours of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, evenings at the Oceanographic Museum, outings on a Riva, Grace Kelly itineraries and drives in classic cars.
For children
Families can stay in the 69 m² Family Suite. Children aged 6–12 can join Little Chefs Green, two-hour workshops in the Odyssey kitchen led by head pastry chef Patrick Mesiano, built around seasonal fruit and zero-waste cooking.
Restaurants & bars
Executive chef Christophe Cussac oversees the dining, with the poolside menu changing with the season.
- Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac — two-Michelin-star Mediterranean haute cuisine in a bronze, ivory and gold room by Jacques Garcia, with a private salon and a Chef’s Table in the kitchen
- Yoshi — an intimate Japanese restaurant of around 40 covers designed by Didier Gomez, overlooking a garden: nigiri, teppanyaki, sake-marinated black cod, lunchtime bento and a sake list
- Zia at Odyssey — a summer Italian restaurant by the pool from chefs Manon Santini and Rocco Seminara, from breakfast through dinner
- Odyssey Restaurant — Christophe Cussac’s bright Mediterranean cooking by the pool outside the summer season
- Lobby Bar — under the glass roof, among works by Picasso, Bacon and Warhol, open from morning to late night for signature cocktails, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea
Pets
Dogs are welcome, with a basket, bowl and treats in the room and a dedicated menu made from natural ingredients. Small dogs on a lead may join guests in the Lobby Bar, but not in Yoshi.
