San Miguel de Allende

Rosewood San Miguel de Allende

About this hotel

General information

Rosewood San Miguel de Allende sits in the historic quarter of San Miguel de Allende, the colonial Guanajuato town listed by UNESCO for its art and architecture. The hotel is conceived as a modern Mexican hacienda: quarry-stone arches, hand-carved detailing, furniture made by local craftsmen and warm colours that echo the town’s Baroque streets, with the Parroquia church, San Miguel’s defining silhouette, in view from many corners.

There are 67 rooms and suites, 10 residences, five restaurants and bars, a Sense spa and garden pools. Art is part of daily life: a courtyard gallery stages changing exhibitions, and an Art Concierge arranges private introductions to the hotel’s collection and to the town’s best-known studios. The kitchens work with the produce and traditions of the region, and cooking classes begin with a visit to local farms.

Location

In the historic centre of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, on Nemesio Diez street. The hotel arranges private Tesla transfers from the airports of Querétaro (QRO), Bajío in León (BJX) and Mexico City (MEX), as well as helicopter flights through a partner operator.

Spa

Sense, A Rosewood Spa draws on Mexico’s healing heritage — Otomi traditions, indigenous botanicals and ancient rituals. The menu covers holistic massages, skin care with Hydrafacial and LED therapy, manicures and pedicures, and treatments with Tata Harper products. Signature programmes include Sensorial Immersion Earth on a bed of rose quartz with sound and colour therapy, a couples’ ritual of exfoliation, cocoon wrap, massage and moxibustion, the Healing Earth Ritual with lomi-lomi massage, plus cacao ceremonies and Reiki. The spa is open daily.

Sports & leisure

The hotel has a 24-hour fitness centre, a tennis court and two pools. It also arranges:

  • horseback rides down into a canyon, ending at a natural river
  • a workshop at a traditional studio where miniature mojigangas figures are made
  • cooking classes with a resident chef, from market and farm to kitchen
  • walking tours of the historic town and an art walk through the hotel
  • painting classes with a local artist in a sunlit courtyard
  • tequila tastings led by the hotel’s resident tequila expert
For children

Families have a separate family pool, a nanny service and family programmes of crafts, cooking lessons and farm visits. Cribs are provided on request.

Restaurants & bars

Five venues pair Mexico’s culinary heritage with ingredients from local producers:

  • Pirules Garden Kitchen — wood-fired cooking by chef Odín Rocha, with ancestral techniques, seasonal ideas and ingredients from the surrounding region
  • 1826 Restaurant — modern takes on Mexican cuisine and regional dishes, indoors or al fresco
  • 1826 Tequila Bar — tequilas, mezcals, craft cocktails and light fare, with food and spirit pairings
  • Luna Rooftop — Mediterranean ideas on Mexican produce, cocktails and views over the town
  • Agua — relaxed poolside dining with Mexican dishes, snacks and drinks
Swimming

The bi-level main pool lies in a quiet corner at the back of the hotel, framed by palms and native trees, with loungers, cabanas and a Jacuzzi; it also works as a lap pool. A separate family pool sits alongside. Both are open from sunrise to sunset.

Pets

Cats and dogs up to 20 kg are welcome, one per room, suite or residence. Pets may join guests in the outdoor areas of the restaurants but not at the pools, spa or fitness centre, and should not be left alone in the room. The concierge runs a dedicated pet programme.
