General information
Grand Velas Riviera Maya is a luxury all-inclusive resort: meals in every restaurant, drinks at the bars, 24-hour suite service, the kids’ and teens’ clubs and most activities are included in the stay. Its extensive grounds between the Yucatán jungle and the Caribbean are divided into three distinct ambiances: Zen Grand sits amid tropical greenery, family-friendly Ambassador wraps around an infinity pool above the sea, and oceanfront Grand Class is designed for quiet, romantic stays.
The resort belongs to Mexico’s Velas Resorts. It has eight restaurants, including the MICHELIN-starred Cocina de Autor, the SE Spa by Grand Velas with its hydrotherapy circuit, a beach with a marina centre, clubs for children and teenagers, and a convention centre and wedding venues.
Location
The resort lies at kilometre 62 of the Cancún–Tulum highway, next to Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo. The drive from Cancún International Airport takes about 45 minutes, and the concierge can arrange transfers. The Zen Grand suites sit in the jungle about 1.2 km from the beach, with frequent shuttles linking the three ambiances.
Spa
SE Spa by Grand Velas is among the largest spas in the region, with more than 7,000 m², around 40 treatment rooms, a beauty salon and a meditation area. At its heart is the SE Spa Water Ceremony, a hydrotherapy journey through eight water experiences, included with any 50-minute treatment. The menu covers massages, skin therapies and rituals inspired by ancient traditions, as well as floating meditation, and the team is certified by Wellness for Cancer to care for guests affected by cancer. Children aged 5–12 have their own Jungle Kids’ Spa in the Zen Grand ambiance.
Sports & leisure
Each of the three ambiances has its own pool, and the Grand Class infinity pool is reserved for adults. There is a fitness centre, yoga, Pilates and dance classes, beach volleyball, basketball and table tennis. The marina centre offers kayaking, plus snorkelling and diving with instructors on the Mesoamerican Reef, plus boat trips and fishing. The concierge arranges excursions to the Xcaret and Xel-Há parks, the ruins of Tulum and Chichén Itzá, the underground river at Río Secreto, Isla Mujeres and whale-shark snorkelling; evenings bring live music and entertainment.
For children
The Kids’ Club for ages 4–12 is open daily from 9 am to 10.45 pm, with games, films, arts and crafts, consoles and a nightly children’s dinner. The Teens’ Club, for guests aged 13 and over, has a dance floor with lighting and surround sound, karaoke, pool, air hockey, ping-pong, gaming booths and a bar serving mocktails. The Baby Concierge provides sterilisers, high chairs, strollers and carriers, family suites welcome children with a teepee, beach toys and a special turndown, and the Jungle Kids’ Spa treats ages 5–12. There is also a children’s pool.

All restaurants and bars are part of the all-inclusive stay; only certain premium wines and spirits are charged extra.

Swimming
The resort has more than 300 metres of white-sand beach on the Caribbean, with the Mesoamerican Reef directly offshore, so snorkelling starts almost from the shoreline.
Rooms
539 suites are spread across the three ambiances: 254 in Zen Grand, 195 in Ambassador and 90 in Grand Class. Contemporary Mexican décor comes with generous terraces, many with plunge pools, and every guest has a personal concierge.
Every suite has a jacuzzi, a rain shower, Molton Brown toiletries, a premium minibar restocked daily, a Nespresso machine, Tea Forté teas, goose-down pillows and duvet, a pillow menu, Wi-Fi, a TV, bathrobes and slippers, nightly turndown and 24-hour suite service.
Grand Class Oceanfront Suite
An open-plan oceanfront suite with a king or two queen beds, a marble bathroom with jacuzzi and space for spa treatments, and a terrace with plunge pool facing the sea. Sleeps 3 adults and a child.
Grand Class Presidential Oceanfront Suite
A two-bedroom oceanfront suite: the king and two-queen bedrooms each have a sitting room, a jacuzzi bathroom and a terrace with plunge pool, plus a living room with bar and dining area and onyx-clad bathrooms. Sleeps 6 adults.
Ambassador Ocean View Suite
A suite in the family ambiance with a king or two queen beds, a jacuzzi bathroom and a terrace overlooking the Caribbean. Sleeps 3 adults and a child.
Ambassador Pool Oceanfront Suite
An oceanfront suite with a sitting area with sofa, a jacuzzi and a terrace with plunge pool above the sea; king or two queen beds. Sleeps 3 adults and a child.
Ambassador Two-Bedroom Family Suite Ocean View
A two-bedroom family suite (king; two queens) with sea views, where children find a welcome kit, an in-room teepee and beach toys. Sleeps 6 adults and 2 children, or 4 adults and 4 children.
Ambassador Governor Oceanfront Suite
An oceanfront suite with a king bedroom, separate living and dining areas, two bathrooms, a spacious sea-facing terrace and a plunge pool. Sleeps 2 adults and a child.
Ambassador Presidential Oceanfront Suite
A two-bedroom oceanfront suite: the king master and the two-queen guest room each have a terrace with plunge pool, plus a living room with bar, dining area and terrace. Sleeps 6 adults.
