Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita covers 21 hectares of a private peninsula on the Pacific coast of the Riviera Nayarit, inside a double-gated resort community. Low-rise casitas, suites and villas are scattered through tropical gardens above Banderas Bay, most with their own terrace and pool. The resort is geared above all to families and groups of friends, with Mexican culture woven through the stay.

The interiors, reworked by designers Erica Krayer and Ofelia Uribe, rely on natural materials, soft textures and a quiet palette, with Mexican handcrafts and Huichol artistry throughout and motifs drawn from local wildlife such as the blue-footed booby. Guests have access to two Jack Nicklaus courses at Punta Mita Golf Club, the Apuane Spa with its Huichol healing traditions, and two beaches, one of them reserved for Four Seasons guests.

Location

The resort sits on the Punta Mita peninsula at the northern end of Banderas Bay, in the state of Nayarit. Puerto Vallarta International Airport and Puerto Vallarta itself are around 45 minutes by car, Sayulita and Bucerías about 30 minutes. A resort representative meets guests at the airport, and the concierge arranges private transfers.

Spa

Apuane Spa — the name is Huichol for ‘stream of water’ — pairs the healing practices of the Huichol people with contemporary spa care. It has 13 treatment rooms, hot and cold pools, ice fountains, eucalyptus steam rooms and saunas, a beauty salon and a 24-hour fitness centre. Signatures are a hot-stone massage with tequila and sage oil and a lymphatic massage using warm Hakali cactus gel; there are also couples’ rituals, chakra balancing, detox journeys, reformer Pilates and treatments for the youngest guests, including baby reflexology from six months.

Sports & leisure
  • golf on the Pacifico and Bahia courses by Jack Nicklaus; Pacifico’s Tail of the Whale is the world’s only natural island green, playable only at low tide
  • tennis, fitness centre and aqua aerobics
  • surf lessons, paddleboarding, snorkelling, diving, kayaking, sunset sailing and catamaran trips along Banderas Bay
  • eco-tour to the Marietas Islands and horseback rides
  • Huichol beadwork workshops, mezcal tastings, blending your own tequila and Spanish lessons
  • cooking classes and Catch of the Day, when a chef cooks the fish guests pick straight from a local fishing boat
For children

Kids For All Seasons is extended by KidsWell: daily from 9:00 to 16:45, children aged 5–12 take part in bubble breathwork, guided meditation, watercolour painting, nature walks, wildlife sessions, healthy cooking and a workshop for making their own Mexican chocolate. Babies For All Seasons provides baby gear and programming for the very young, and families can arrange a private piñata party. The Nuna pool has a shallow area for children.

Restaurants & bars

Eleven restaurants and bars range from Mexican classics to a mezcal bar, and meals can also be served on a private terrace, on the beach or in a villa.

  • Dos Catrinas — contemporary Mexican in a two-storey restaurant with ocean views, breakfast to dinner
  • Bahía — beachside grill for steak and seafood
  • Aramara — Asian-inspired cooking on an open-air ocean-view terrace
  • Tamai — light menu by the spa: plant-based bowls, sushi, sashimi and fresh juices
  • Tail of the Whale Clubhouse — American and Mexican dishes by the golf course
  • The Salad Shack — salads and wraps on Manzanillas Beach
  • The Shack — beach bar open on selected evenings, for Pacific sunsets
  • Nuna Pool Bar — cocktails, lunch and snacks by the infinity pool
  • Cora Lounge — smoothies, coffee and sundowners to acoustic guitar
  • Mez — mezcal bar with more than 70 mezcals and mezcalería-style food
  • Drift Bar — swim-up bar on the lazy river
Swimming

There are two beaches. Manzanillas has golden sand and gentle waves for swimming, snorkelling and surf lessons, and is open only to Four Seasons guests. Cuevas Beach, tucked between rock formations, suits sunbathing, swimming and kayaking, with the seasonal Cuevas Club de Playa. The pools include the family-friendly Nuna infinity pool, overlooking more than 1.5 km of beach, the Lazy River Pool with its swim-up bar and the adults-only Tamai pool. Cabanas, serviced loungers and beach lunches are available from sunrise to sunset.

Pets

Up to two pets per room are welcome; they are registered at check-in and kept on a lead or in a carrier in public areas. Pets may go to Manzanillas Beach and designated outdoor restaurant seating, but not to Cuevas Beach, indoor restaurants, pool areas, the kids’ club, spa or fitness centre. Dogs need a veterinary certificate issued at least 10 days before arrival, and pet-sitting can be arranged through the concierge.

Rooms

Accommodation comes in 24 categories: Mexican-style casitas with private terraces, one- and two-bedroom suites with living rooms and plunge pools, and villas, beach houses, a penthouse and residences of three to seven bedrooms with kitchens and private pools. The design blends contemporary Mexican style with Huichol craft.
