Casa Polanco

About this hotel

General information

Casa Polanco is a 19-room boutique hotel in a 1940s neo-colonial mansion facing Lincoln Park in Polanco. Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts lists the house as historically and architecturally significant. Over the decades it served as offices and shops, until a four-year restoration led by architect Claudio Gantous preserved its 1940s architecture and added a contemporary wing.

The interiors are by CASA M+M (Mónica Romo and Mónica Novelo): mid-century glamour, retro and contemporary pieces, wood, marble and wrought iron, with furniture by Alfonso Marina, Héctor Esrawe and Rodrigo Garagarza. Contemporary Mexican art — photography by Graciela Iturbide and Luis Fernando Salazar, painting and sculpture by Ricardo Mazal, Jordi Boldó and Roberto Polidori — runs throughout the house, most densely in the library.

Location

On Luis G. Urbina street in Polanco, Mexico City, directly across from Lincoln Park, with Chapultepec Park and the neighbourhood’s celebrated restaurants, Pujol among them, close by. The concierge handles transfers and restaurant bookings.

Spa

Casa Polanco Spa by LUUM is a private treatment cabin reserved for hotel guests. LUUM skincare pairs Mexico’s ethnobotanical traditions with modern skin science, with melipona honey, rooted in Maya culture, as its core ingredient. The menu includes the Melipona Radiance and Melipona Regenerative facials and relaxing, deep-tissue and sports-recovery massages.

Sports & leisure

A Technogym fitness room, with a personal trainer and yoga and Pilates instructors on request; terraces overlooking Lincoln Park for yoga, dinner or a glass of wine; and a 1940s-style library with a curated book collection and art. The concierge arranges private city tours, and electric bicycles are available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Veranda, a bright inner courtyard, is the hotel’s restaurant and serves only guests and their companions. The modern, cosmopolitan menu is built on fresh local produce, with lighter choices through the day: breakfast, lunch and dinner, then tea, champagne and wines with tastings towards evening. The library has an honour bar, there is a cigar patio, private dinners are set on the terraces, and meals are also served in the rooms.

Pets

The hotel does not accept pets.
