General information
Be Tulum is an all-suite hotel on the Caribbean shore, in Tulum’s coastal hotel zone. Its architecture follows the setting rather than competing with it: the suites sit among palms and dense greenery, some beneath palapa roofs, and the interiors keep to a pared-back simplicity in which light, quiet and the nearness of the sea do most of the work. Most suite categories have a plunge pool of their own – in a garden, on a terrace by the sea or up on the roof.
The hotel is for adults only: every guest and visitor must be at least 16. Its rhythm is set by Yäan Spa, with rituals drawn from Maya tradition, daily yoga and meditation, the beachfront restaurant Mare’zia, open-fire cooking at 4FU3GOS and a rooftop terrace where local musicians play in the evening. The hotel also has its own settings for weddings and private celebrations.
Location
The hotel stands at kilometre 10 of the coastal Tulum–Boca Paila road, in Tulum’s hotel zone on the Riviera Maya, in Quintana Roo on the eastern side of the Yucatán Peninsula. Cancún airport is about 130 km away, roughly an hour and a half by road; the hotel arranges pre-booked transfers from there or from Tulum International Airport. Guests arriving by car park free of charge, with valet service during the day.
Spa
Yäan Spa brings together pre-Hispanic Maya rituals, energy work and classic spa treatments. The menu covers traditional indigenous therapies, deeply relaxing massages, herbal and flower baths in handmade copper tubs, skincare, detox programmes and rituals for couples – among them a pairing of warming moxibustion with Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. The water circuit combines a sauna, a steam room and indoor and outdoor pools, and there is a temazcal, the traditional Maya sweat lodge, used for moon ceremonies.
Sports & leisure
A daily wellbeing programme is included in the stay: mornings bring sessions at Yäan Spa and up among the treetops – Vinyasa and restorative yoga, Pilates, pranic meditation and breathwork. By day guests can borrow bicycles to explore the area at their own pace.
The hotel also hosts its own gatherings: a tequila tasting and an evening of five wines matched with five tapas at Mare’zia, creative sessions with clay or paint over a glass of wine, philosophical dinners built around unhurried conversation, talks on longevity and a monthly beach asado cooked over open flames. The programme changes through the year.
Restaurants & bars
The kitchens work with seasonal local produce, and each venue has a character of its own, from the sand to the rooftop.
- Mare’zia – the beachfront restaurant looking out to the Caribbean: fresh seafood, breakfast by the water, lunch and dinner
- 4FU3GOS – open-fire cooking that draws on age-old grilling and slow-cooking methods for simple, refined dishes of seasonal produce; lunch and dinner
- The Terrace – a rooftop terrace open from morning to late evening, with local musicians playing after sunset
- The Bar – a bar in the jungle with a selection of mezcal and local spirits and cocktails that reflect Tulum’s own style
Swimming
The hotel opens straight onto a white-sand Caribbean beach. The Mare’zia beach area, with its beach beds and pools, is reserved for hotel guests. Most suites have a pool of their own – a plunge pool in a garden or on a terrace by the sea, or on a private rooftop sundeck – while the Oceanfront suites share a rooftop terrace with a pool.
Pets
Pets are not accepted anywhere in the hotel, rooms and shared areas included; service animals are welcome.
Rooms
Nine suite categories are set among gardens and palms or right by the sea; most have their own pool, and the Premier Suites add a living room and kitchen. Layouts can vary within a category.
Every suite has air conditioning, a safe, free Wi-Fi, a bathroom with premium toiletries and fine linens, bathrobes, a hairdryer and an iron, and evening turndown, with daily housekeeping and a front desk open around the clock.
Alcove Suite with Plunge Pool
A ground-floor suite wrapped in greenery a few steps from the beach, with its own plunge pool, indoor and outdoor showers and a choice of one king-size or two queen-size beds. Sleeps 2.
Signature Suite with Plunge Pool
A ground-floor suite among the gardens with a small private garden, a plunge pool and a king-size bed. Sleeps 2.
Palm Suite
An upper-floor suite beneath a palapa roof among palms and jungle, larger than the garden suites, with a king-size bed and an outdoor shower; some have a sofa or an indoor bathtub. Sleeps 2.
Sea Suite
A suite facing the beach and the turquoise Caribbean, with a king-size bed, a minibar and a coffee maker. Sleeps 2.
Air Suite with Plunge Pool
A spacious upper-floor suite with a large bedroom with a king-size bed and a sitting area, some with a small kitchen, and a private rooftop terrace with a pool above. Sleeps up to 3.
Terrace Suite with Plunge Pool
A very spacious upper-floor suite with a king-size bedroom, an indoor copper tub, a private balcony and a private rooftop sundeck with a pool. Sleeps 2.
Oceanfront with Plunge Pool
A spacious suite with a private balcony facing the sea, a sitting area, a king-size bed, a minibar and a coffee maker; on the roof, a shared terrace with a pool and sunbathing area. Sleeps 2.
Premier Palm Suite
A very spacious garden suite with its own outdoor pool and terrace, a large bedroom with a king-size bed, a living room, kitchen and dining area, and an extra guest bathroom. Sleeps 2.
Premier Oceanfront Suite
A suite set between the white sand and the gardens, with an oceanfront terrace and its own pool, a king-size bed, a spacious living area, a full kitchen and an extra guest bathroom. Sleeps 2.
