Amanvari

About this hotel

General information

Amanvari, Aman’s first resort in Mexico, occupies a stretch of Baja California Sur’s East Cape where desert, mountains, the Sea of Cortés and a tidal estuary meet. It lies within Costa Palmas, a 1,500-acre estate of palm groves, organic orchards and farmland.

With only 18 casitas, it is an intimate place: pared-back contemporary architecture, sand-toned interiors, wide picture windows and open-air terraces. Every casita has its own heated pool, and the resort fronts some three miles of swimmable sand. Breakfast, in-casita drinks, bicycles, non-motorised water sports and guided wellness sessions are part of every stay.

Location

The resort sits on the East Cape within Costa Palmas, a 45–60-minute SUV transfer from San José del Cabo International Airport. A private helicopter covers the distance in about 15 minutes, and private jets are handled at the airport’s PrimeSky terminal.

Spa

The 660 m² Aman Spa has six treatment rooms, two hydrotherapy houses (one with a hammam), a contemporary temazcal sweat lodge, a beauty salon with head-spa treatments and a multifunctional studio. The signature Desert Damiana ritual opens with a rain-stick sound ceremony before cranial release and a hot-stone massage; facials, wraps, lymphatic drainage and traditional healing practices complete the menu.

Sports & leisure

Guests have a 24-hour fitness centre, a yoga pavilion with private sessions on request, bicycles, paddleboards and other non-motorised equipment. The resort arranges horseback rides across beach, estuary and desert, diving and snorkelling in Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, private fishing trips followed by an open-fire dinner of the catch, and off-road expeditions into the Sierra de la Laguna to swim beneath the waterfall at Cañón de la Zorra. Golfers play the 18-hole championship course at Costa Palmas Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones II.

For children

Families have a dedicated Family Terrace, and Arva, the Italian restaurant in the main Casa Grande building, is designed for family and group dining.

Restaurants & bars

Dining is reserved for resort guests and Amanvari Residence owners.

  • Arva — seasonal Italian cooking in Casa Grande, with ocean views
  • Sesui — Japanese, set on the sand, with a 10-seat omakase counter, sashimi and charcoal-grilled dishes
  • Luma — Mexican coastal cooking over open fire, with seafood and meats to share, overlooking the Sea of Cortés and the mountains
  • The Lounge Bar — signature cocktails built on regional ingredients, with light bites
  • The Pool — daytime refreshments, light snacks and spritzes by the pool
Swimming

The resort faces some three miles of swimmable Sea of Cortés shoreline, with a beach club on the sand. Beyond the casitas’ private pools there is a main pool and an infinity pool lined with daybeds.

Rooms

All 18 casitas measure 82 m² and differ only in setting: on the beach, beside the estuary, raised for panoramic views or tucked among palm groves. Each has a 10 × 3 m heated pool and a terrace with a fireplace.

In each room

Each casita has a king bed, a living area with sofa, a desk, a personal bar and a bathroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, a soaking tub, two vanities and indoor and outdoor showers.
