About this hotel
General information
The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa sits on the shore of Turtle Bay on the north-west coast of Mauritius, inside a natural marine park with a living coral reef. It is an all-suite resort: 190 suites, each with its own balcony or terrace, many of them looking out over the bay.
Everything here follows the Westin approach to wellbeing — restful sleep in the brand's Heavenly beds, balanced food, movement and time together as a family. Half of the menus are plant-based, and a herb and vegetable garden at the far end of the grounds lets guests pick produce and put together a salad with the chef. The resort holds Green Key certification, and the mood on the beach and around the pools is quiet and unhurried.
Location
The resort lies on Turtle Bay near the village of Balaclava, on the north-west coast of Mauritius, about 57.5 km from Mauritius International Airport. There is no hotel shuttle; taxis are booked through guest services, which can also arrange outings to the cafés and shops of Grand Baie and to the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden.
Spa
Heavenly Spa by Westin offers massages, facials, body wraps and body rituals, with a private garden for resting before and after treatments. There is also a beauty salon; appointments are made at the spa reception, and walk-ins are welcome.
Sports & leisure
The resort keeps guests busy both on the water and on land:
- complimentary watersports in the bay: kayaking, pedal boats, windsurfing and glass-bottom boat trips
- snorkelling and scuba diving on the marine park's reef
- a 24-hour WestinWORKOUT fitness studio with cardio machines, TRX training and strength equipment; workout clothes and shoes on request
- sunrise yoga on the shore and one-to-one sessions with a certified coach
- clay tennis courts with coaching, equipment provided
- RunWESTIN routes along the Balaclava coast and through the countryside, and guided cycling to the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden
- table tennis and a games room
For children
The Westin Family Kids Club, certified by Worldwide Kids, is open daily from 9 am to 10 pm and is free for guests. Children explore the lagoon and tropical gardens, listen to island stories and join cooking classes and sandcastle contests. Babysitting is available for parents.
Restaurants & bars
Five restaurants, a bar and a juice bar draw on local produce, and half of what they serve is plant-based.
- Seasonal Tastes — breakfast and dinner by the sea, with cuisines changing daily at live cooking stations and tables under parasols facing the beach or in a shaded courtyard
- Fusion — Japanese-inspired cooking, with sushi and live teppanyaki in the evening
- Kangan — Indian classics and contemporary dishes in a tropical setting beside the pool
- Beach Grill — a grill on the sand with views of the ocean
- Mystique — a beach bar and lounge serving salads, sandwiches, burgers, Pan-Asian dishes and a daily plant-based menu
- The Retreat Bar — a quiet bar for signature cocktails at the end of the day
- The Juicery Bar — fresh juices and smoothies from local produce at the heart of the resort
A picnic basket of mezze, salads and local sweets can be arranged for a meal under the palms.
