General information
Shangri-La Le Touessrok sits on a quiet stretch of Mauritius’s east coast at the village of Trou d’Eau Douce. The resort runs along white beaches and extends onto Frangipani, a separate islet within the resort. Every room, suite and villa looks out over the Indian Ocean, and interiors keep to calm natural tones — rattan, pale wood, contemporary Mauritian art and black-and-white photography of the island.
There are 185 keys in all: 30 rooms, 152 suites and three villas on a secluded beach. Guests have the run of the resort’s own island, Exclusive Island by Shangri-La Le Touessrok, with a long beach and its own restaurant, and play at two partner 18-hole golf courses. Five restaurants, three bars, a spa set in tropical gardens and a kids’ club with its own pool make the resort work equally well for couples and families.
Location
The resort lies on the coastal road at Trou d’Eau Douce, on the east coast of Mauritius. Mauritius International Airport is 45 km away — about an hour by car or roughly 10 minutes by helicopter — and the capital, Port Louis, is 49 km. A hotel representative meets guests at the airport, and car or helicopter transfers are arranged on request.
Spa
Chi, The Spa occupies a secluded corner of the resort among dense tropical planting. Its eight treatment rooms each carry design details drawn from Mauritian culture. The spa works with the French skincare house Biologique Recherche, tailoring facial treatments through the brand’s three-stage method. Selected treatments are also given in-room, and on Exclusive Island a choice of signature massages using coconut and sugar cane is available by advance booking.
Sports & leisure
The resort keeps guests busy on land and water:
- included in the stay — snorkelling, kayaks, stand-up paddleboarding, pedal boats, windsurfing, Hobie Cat sailing, water-skiing, wakeboarding and glass-bottom boat trips
- at extra cost — scuba diving with PADI and CMAS courses from beginner to advanced, banana-boat rides and guided kayak tours; motorised activities are run by outside operators beyond the hotel’s lagoon
- four floodlit tennis courts, a padel court, bocce, mini football, beach football and beach volleyball
- a fitness centre, beginners’ yoga, stretching, boxing, boot camp and aqua-gym
- nature trails, cycling and e-bikes, and kayak routes through the mangroves
- golf on partner courses: the 18-hole Île aux Cerfs Golf Club stands on a neighbouring island, with one complimentary round per person per day and a free boat shuttle from the resort jetty; a second partner course, Anahita Golf Club, is reached by car transfer at a fee
For children
The resort’s kids’ club has its own pool, a mini kitchen with pizza ovens and a full programme of indoor and outdoor activities. It takes children aged 4–11 and teens aged 12–17, opens daily from 9am to 10pm and is free for young guests. Babysitting is available on request for a fee.
Restaurants & bars
Five restaurants and three bars range from poolside breakfasts to Japanese dining and lunch on the resort’s own island.
- TSK — the main restaurant: Mauritian and international dishes served as a buffet, with a terrace over the pool and Hibiscus Beach
- Coco’s — beside the pool on Frangipani islet: Mauritian cooking presented in a contemporary way, for breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Safran — Indian dinners with tandoor dishes and South Indian recipes
- Kushi — Japanese restaurant with a sushi counter, omakase menus, a teppanyaki room and a selection of rare sakes
- Exclusive Island — beach restaurant and bar on the resort’s island: seafood, salads, pizza and rum cocktails at lunchtime
- Sega Bar — beside the main pool: cocktails of local rum and tropical fruit, Mauritian small plates and live music in the evening
- Coco’s Beach Bar — beach bar next to Coco’s for cocktails and cool drinks from late morning into the night
- Vinoteca — wine bar by the lobby with more than 400 labels from Europe and the New World
In-room dining runs around the clock.
Swimming
The resort opens onto white-sand lagoon beaches, the main one being Hibiscus Beach, where the main pool also sits. Frangipani islet has a separate adults-only pool, and the kids’ club has a pool of its own. A daily boat takes guests to Exclusive Island, where cabanas with sand-butler service line a 3.5 km beach.
Rooms
The resort has 30 rooms, 152 suites and three villas, all with ocean views; ground-floor units step straight onto the beach. Suites on Frangipani islet include breakfast at Coco’s and use of the adults-only pool.
Each unit has a balcony or terrace, a marble bathroom with walk-in shower and separate deep-soaking tub, a 55-inch TV, Wi-Fi, a Nespresso machine and tea set, minibar, safe, bathrobes and slippers, iron and hairdryer.
