Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel

About this hotel

General information

Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel is a small, adults-only hotel on the north coast of Mauritius, at Anse La Raie. Its 75 rooms and suites sit in a lush garden of latania and coconut palms that runs down to a natural cove and out onto a slim peninsula looking across the lagoon to the islets of the north. Interiors pair pale wood and rattan with white walls and tropical wallpapers.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel is set up for unhurried time as a couple: secluded Love Nests along the shore, four restaurants and several bars, a spa using Cinq Mondes products, and daily yoga and Pilates. Sustainability runs through the place — drinking water is bottled on site in refillable bottles, solar heaters warm the water, and the garden is planted with endemic species, explained in an illustrated guide.

Location

The hotel lies at Anse La Raie on the north coast of Mauritius, about 10 minutes by car from Grand Baie and 2.5 km from the nearest fishing village. Transfers from Mauritius International Airport are arranged by the hotel on request.

Spa

The Spa works with the French brand Cinq Mondes, whose products draw on aromatherapy and plant extracts. The menu covers facials and massages, aromatic flower baths, hammam rituals and the brand’s “Beauty Rituals of the World”, with an open-air pavilion overlooking the sea for couples’ massages. Facilities include a hammam, a relaxation pool, a hair salon and a beauty corner.

Sports & leisure

Most activities are included in the stay:

  • a fitness centre, two floodlit tennis courts and group beginners’ sessions with a coach; private tennis lessons at extra cost
  • windsurfing, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, snorkelling, a glass-bottom boat, pedal boats and a Hobie Cat
  • yoga, Pilates, tai chi and qigong, and aqua aerobics; art therapy workshops at extra cost
  • an introduction to archery, stargazing and a pool table
  • at extra cost: scuba diving with PADI instructors, private outings on a crewed catamaran, speedboat trips, and guided bike and e-bike tours
Restaurants & bars

Dining ranges from Mauritian to Japanese, with room service around the clock.

  • The Dining Room — the main restaurant, contemporary Mauritian cuisine, breakfast and dinner
  • XO — Japanese cuisine, dinner
  • The Cove — seafood among coconut palms between the pool and the cove, looking over the lagoon; a five-course vegan tasting menu at extra cost
  • Peninsula Restaurant — Mediterranean cuisine on the peninsula, steps from the water, lunch and dinner
  • Beach Bar, Peninsula Bar and Stay Bar — open-air bars with live acoustic music in the evening
  • Tea Bar — a tea bar with a wall of mint and rose ceramic tiles

Swimming

The beach lies in a natural cove, with warm sand, coconut palms and loungers, and secluded Love Nests tucked among the latania and palm trees. There are several pools: the main pool (1.5 m deep), a lap pool, an infinity pool on the peninsula with a timber deck and sunbeds (heated in the cooler months), and two small seawater plunge pools.
