General information
LUX* Grand Baie sits on a crescent of sand on the northern coast of Mauritius, in the heart of Grand Baie and facing its sheltered turquoise lagoon. The resort is a modernist, boutique-scale take on island living: clean lines, terrazzo and tropical greenery, suites styled like a designer’s seaside home, and 343 metres of beach frontage.
There are 116 suites, villas and residences in all; the residences and penthouses stand beside the main resort and are linked to it by a skywalk. Life revolves around Beach Rouge on the sand and Bisou, a 1,190 m² rooftop planted with trees and creepers around an infinity pool. Spa and fitness spaces cover 1,625 m², including an open-air training area on the roof, and the grounds also hold a boutique and a fine-arts gallery.
Location
The resort stands on the coastal road at Grand Baie, a lively beach town in the north of Mauritius, and opens straight onto the beach. Mauritius International Airport is 70 km away, about 1 h 15 min by car; the hotel arranges private transfers and taxis, and car hire is available.
Spa
LUX* ME Spa welcomes guests aged 16 and over and blends age-old wellness traditions with modern technology. The ground and first floors hold six treatment rooms with specialised beds, two double spa suites, an outdoor relaxation pool in a garden, a reflexology water path for the feet, a hair and barber salon and a bridal studio. The lower floor is given over to a hydrothermal circuit: a hammam with a heated pool, ice rocks and warm benches, a multi-sensory water path, a Kneipp walk, an aromatherapy steam room, a sauna, a laconium and a deep-relaxation lounge.
Sports & leisure
Days can be as active as guests like, on land and on the water:
- a fitness centre (ages 16+) with Technogym cardio and functional equipment, a fitness assessment, personal training and more than 25 classes a week
- Muscle Up on the Roof — 350 m² of open-air rooftop with two 30 m running tracks and a 12-station functional frame, used for strength, HIIT and boxing sessions one to one or in small groups
- a group cycling studio and the Niyama studio for mat Pilates, yoga, aerial yoga, meditation and stretching
- water sports from the Boat House included in the stay: windsurfing, Laser dinghies, stand-up paddleboarding, pedal boards, kayaks, pedalos, snorkelling, glass-bottom boat trips and water-skiing
- at extra cost, a diving centre at the Boat House, speedboat rides and boat trips to the islets off the north coast
- snorkelling at northern sites where hawksbill and green turtles live, and beach volleyball
For children
PLAY, the kids’ club for ages 3–11, has an indoor space for arts and crafts, a library, a toddlers’ corner and a mini kitchen, with a vegetable garden, a lawn with natural play structures and a children’s pool beside the main pool outside. Its weekly programme, run in three age groups, is built around eating well, moving, caring, feeling and creating — gardening, ice-cream making, junior yoga, science experiments and a climbing wall among them. Teenagers aged 12–17 have Studio 17, with vintage arcade games, PS5 stations, snooker and a small movie pod, and babysitting for children from three months can be booked in advance.
Restaurants & bars
Restaurants and bars are spread between the beach, the rooftop and the main building, and plant-based Keen on Green dishes are marked on every menu.
- Beach Rouge — the main restaurant and beach club: a Mediterranean menu, an Italian kitchen with a mozzarella bar, bakery and deli, and several bars by the pool and on the sand; the whole place glows red after dark
- Bisou — rooftop restaurant and bar among trees and climbing plants, with a tapas menu, cabanas and a 22 m infinity pool overlooking the Grand Baie lagoon (adults only during the day)
- Walima by Bisou — modern Moroccan cooking on the rooftop, with a hand-washing ritual and a tea ceremony
- Ai KISU — contemporary pan-Asian dinners of dishes to share, an open kitchen with warayaki straw-fire cooking and a bar of Asian spirits
- Maison LUX* — a Milan-style café and bar: locally roasted coffee and pastries by day, aperitivo, cocktails and digestifs in the evening
- ICI — an ice-cream parlour making gelato and sorbets in small batches
- The Food Lab — the kitchen’s development space, which hosts a chef’s table, wine tastings and cooking classes
Four beachside cocoons can be reserved for a private breakfast, lunch or dinner, and stays are offered with breakfast, half board, full board or all-inclusive dining.
Swimming
A sugar-white beach fringed with coconut palms and a calm, sheltered lagoon lie in front of the resort. Besides the main pool there is a pool at Beach Rouge, the 22 m infinity pool on the Bisou rooftop, a children’s pool and the spa’s outdoor relaxation pool; villas, residences and penthouses each have a heated private pool.
Rooms
The 116 units range from 65 m² junior suites to two- and three-bedroom villas, residences and penthouses, all styled like a designer’s home in the tropics with terrazzo, natural tones and smart-home technology. Villas and penthouses come with a private butler.
Every unit has a king-size bed, a furnished balcony or terrace, a dressing area, a freestanding bath and a chromotherapy shower, smart control of lighting, shutters and curtains, a minibar, a coffee machine and tea set, free high-speed Wi-Fi and USB charging points.
LUX* Junior Suite
Light, loft-style suite on the ground or first floor with a king-size bed, a terrazzo bathroom with a freestanding bath and chromotherapy shower, and a tropical terrace. Up to 2 adults and 1 child.
LUX* Ocean Junior Suite
Suite on the second floor with panoramic lagoon views from a furnished balcony, a king-size bed and a freestanding bath. Up to 2 adults and 1 child.
LUX* Family Suite
Two interconnecting rooms on the ground or first floor, each with a king-size bed and a bathroom with bath and shower, plus two terraces, two minibars and two TVs with children’s channels. Up to 4 adults and 2 children.
LUX* Pool Residence
Two-bedroom residence with en-suite bathrooms on the first to third floors of a building beside the resort, reached by a skywalk; living and dining area, kitchenette, wide terrace and heated private pool. Up to 4 adults and 2 teenagers.
LUX* Pool Villa
Two-bedroom duplex villa in a tropical garden a few metres from the beach; the ground-floor master suite opens onto a heated pool, with a living and dining room, a gazebo and a barbecue; butler service. Up to 4 adults and 2 teenagers.
