About this hotel
General information
Constance Prince Maurice is an intimate resort on the north-east coast of Mauritius, spread across 60 hectares of private and largely untouched land. The setting does the sheltering: dense tropical gardens, quiet white-sand beaches and a calm turquoise lagoon keep the prevailing winds at bay, while a natural fish reserve fringed with mangroves runs along the western side. The resort is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
With just 89 suites and villas under thatched roofs, the grounds stay hushed even in high season. Two addresses define the place: Le Barachois, a floating restaurant on wooden decks above the reserve, and a wine cellar holding more than 25,000 bottles. Constance Spa in a secluded corner of the garden, water sports on the lagoon and the Constance group's two golf courses close by complete the picture.
Location
The resort lies at Poste de Flacq on the north-east coast of Mauritius, 35 km from Port Louis, with Belle Mare beach about 6 km away. Mauritius International Airport is roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by car or around 15 minutes by helicopter. Transfers, including private ones, are arranged on request at an extra charge.
Spa
Constance Spa is set in a quiet corner of the gardens around a stone courtyard with a heated pool. It has five single and two double treatment rooms, a beach spa kiosk, a sauna, a steam room, a cold plunge pool, a thermal pool and a hair salon. Each guest is given a card recording their preferences so that treatments can be tailored. The menu covers Sisley Phyto-Aromatic facials and body treatments, Constance signature rituals with products based on Indian Ocean plants, massages, medical manicures and pedicures, and a 75-minute ritual for couples.
Sports & leisure
Most activities on land and on the lagoon are included in the stay:
- a fitness centre open around the clock, with an instructor during the day and personal training at extra cost
- two floodlit tennis courts, a free weekly clinic for adults and children, and lessons with a coach
- bicycles, a practice putting green, pétanque and table tennis
- complimentary non-motorised water sports: Hobie Cats, Laser dinghies, windsurfing, pedal boats, kayaks and stand-up paddle
- at extra cost: boat excursions, a catamaran cruise, parasailing, snorkelling, guided stand-up paddle outings, and kitesurf equipment hire and lessons for adults and children
- a PADI 5 Star IDC dive centre
- archery sessions for adults and children
- golf: the Constance group's two 18-hole courses, Legend and Links, about five minutes' drive away, with a free shuttle
For children
The Coconut Tribe kids' club welcomes children aged 4–11, with registration open on any day of the stay. Its programme is built around caring for nature, kindness, wellbeing, hands-on STEAM experiments and time outdoors: games and relays in the pool, a trampoline and playground, crafts with local themes, cooking sessions, film screenings, and first lessons in tennis, golf and archery. Children can also take kitesurf and stand-up paddle lessons on equipment sized for them. Babysitting is available at extra cost with 24 hours' notice.
Restaurants & bars
The resort has three restaurants, three bars and a wine cellar; menus include vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices, with balanced dishes marked throughout.
- Archipel — the main restaurant, partly open-air, looking over the pool and beach: breakfast, lunch and dinner, international cooking with a light Mauritian touch and themed buffet dinners
- Le Barachois — a floating seafood restaurant on five decks within the fish reserve, reached by a lantern-lit walkway through the mangroves; dinner only, with views of the lagoon and the mountains
- Asian Corner — sushi, sashimi, Japanese dishes and Chinese dim sum at lunch and dinner
- Laguna Bar — a cocktail bar with two sundecks above the pool and beach, plus a daytime juice bar by the pool
- Lotus Lounge Bar — an intimate bar next to Archipel for aperitifs and after-dinner drinks
- Floating Bar — a bar over the water beside Le Barachois, made for sunset
- Wine Cellar — 175 m² holding more than 25,000 bottles and 1,900 labels from around the world, with a tasting table for up to 10 guests served with cheeses and delicatessen
