About this hotel
General information
Constance Belle Mare Plage spreads across almost 15 hectares of tropical gardens on the east coast of Mauritius, behind a two-kilometre beach of white sand. Rooms, suites and villas sit in thatched buildings of no more than three storeys, every one of them facing the Indian Ocean; there are no lifts on the resort.
Golf is a large part of its identity: two 18-hole courses of its own cover some 140 hectares. Dining carries equal weight, with eight restaurants and eight bars, among them the Blue Penny Cellar, a wine cellar holding tens of thousands of bottles from wineries around the world. A spa in a quiet corner of the grounds, a dive centre and a broad choice of water sports, most of them included in the stay, complete the picture.
Location
The resort sits directly on the beach at Belle Mare, on the east coast of Mauritius. Mauritius International Airport is about 60 km away, roughly an hour by car; the hotel arranges taxi or private transfers, and helicopter transfers on request.
Spa
Constance Spa is tucked away from the restaurants and bars in a quiet part of the resort, with a relaxation garden of its own. It has seven single and three double treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, a vitality pool and a cold plunge pool; the hydrothermal area is open to guests aged 16 and over. The menu combines facials and body treatments by the French brand Sisley with Constance Spa massages and rituals that use aromatic natural products drawn from Indian Ocean plants. Couples can book a ritual in a private suite — a foot exfoliation followed by a 75-minute side-by-side massage — and there is also a hair salon.
Sports & leisure
The resort offers plenty on land, on the water and below it:
- two championship 18-hole courses of its own, Legend (par 72, 6,014 m) and Links (par 71, 5,942 m), each with a driving range, pro shop and clubhouse; green fees are complimentary for guests, buggies are charged, lessons come from the resident pros and a free shuttle runs to both courses
- a fitness centre open around the clock, group yoga, Pilates and aqua-gym classes, and personal training
- floodlit tennis courts, padel courts, table tennis, pétanque, volleyball and a 9-hole mini-golf course
- complimentary at the boathouse: water-skiing and wakeboarding, windsurfing, kayaks and pedalos, Hobie Cat and Laser sailing, glass-bottom boat trips and snorkelling outings with equipment
- at a charge: lessons in tennis, water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing and kitesurfing
- the Blues Diving centre: PADI and CMAS courses for beginners and experienced divers, night dives, a wreck dive and dive safaris along the north, west and south-east coasts
- on request: bikes and bike tours, horse riding, quad biking, catamaran cruises, parasailing, an underwater walk and helicopter flights
For children
The Coconut Tribe kids’ club welcomes children aged 4 to 11, with days built around caring for nature, kindness, wellbeing, curiosity and time outdoors. Activities include pool games and relays, a playground, arts and crafts with a local flavour, cooking sessions, first tennis and golf lessons, science and technology experiments and movie nights on an inflatable screen; the youngest, aged 4–6, have an imagination space with playhouses and play kitchens. Babysitting can be arranged at a charge.
Restaurants & bars
Eight restaurants and eight bars range from beach terraces to the golf clubhouses and a wine cellar.
- La Citronnelle — the main restaurant with beach views, buffet breakfasts and dinners with live cooking stations and dishes from South-east Asia, India, the Mediterranean and Mauritius
- Indigo — at the water’s edge overlooking the sea and pool, with sushi, meat and seafood from the Josper charcoal oven, South-east Asian dishes and wood-fired pizza
- Lakaze — a relaxed beach restaurant for lunch, with a salad bar, sandwiches, grilled meat and seafood and a dessert buffet
- La Spiaggia — Mediterranean dinners on a wooden deck facing the ocean within the villa compound
- Blu Sushi Lounge — an Asian restaurant by the sea with a modern take on Japanese cooking, Japanese whiskies and sake
- Blue Penny Cellar — a restaurant inside the wine cellar below the lobby, with bistronomy-style dishes, fine cold cuts and wine flights
- Deer Hunter — Indian Ocean cooking, venison and barbecue dishes in the Legend clubhouse overlooking the 18th green
- Le Swing — light lunches and snacks in the Links clubhouse
- The Bar — at the heart of the resort overlooking the pool, with a ten-metre counter, more than 200 rums from around the world and cocktails
- The Blu Bar — a beachfront bar beside Indigo for fresh juices, homemade iced tea, cocktails and coffee
- Lakaze Bar — a poolside bar with a swim-up counter, infused rums and cocktails
La Spiaggia, Deer Hunter, Le Swing, La Citronnelle and Blue Penny Cellar each have a bar of their own, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
