Lure Hotel & Spa

About this hotel

General information

Lure Hotel & Spa is a small adults-only hotel on the parish square of Mellieħa, in the north of Malta. It faces the village’s baroque parish church directly, with the lively square below the windows and the sea in the distance. The hotel is conceived as a quiet, personal retreat for couples, set apart from the island’s busier resort districts.

The interiors pair contemporary design with antique touches: marble, brass and timber, bespoke furniture and four-poster beds, with every room laid out differently. What defines the place is the infinity pool on the roof, looking out over the church to the sea, an indoor pool in the spa and The Core restaurant with its terrace on the square.

Location

The hotel sits at the heart of Mellieħa on the village’s main square, a convenient base for Mellieħa Bay, Gozo and Comino. Cars can drive right up to the door, free parking is available on the same square and the nearest bus stop is about 100 m away. On request, the hotel arranges a private driver to meet guests at Malta International Airport.

Spa

The compact spa has treatment rooms for singles and for couples, a steam room and an indoor pool. Facials use ELEMIS products, while the menu covers aromatherapy and deep-tissue massage, hot-stone massage with Monoi oil, neck and shoulder, scalp and foot massages, pregnancy massage, a salt scrub and body wraps. Treatments are for guests aged 16 and over, and the spa is a phone-free zone.

Sports & leisure

Leisure revolves around water and rest: an indoor pool long enough for lengths, the rooftop infinity pool, a steam room and spa treatments. Its position in the north of the island also makes the hotel a practical base for the beaches of Mellieħa Bay and for trips across to Gozo and Comino.

For children

The hotel is for adults only: children under 16 are not accepted.

Restaurants & bars

The Core serves Mediterranean cooking at breakfast, lunch and dinner, either inside or outdoors on a terrace overlooking the parish square; a vegan dish can be prepared with at least six hours’ notice. Breakfast is also laid out in a snug separate room. In the warmer months, weather permitting, a rooftop bar opens in the evenings for drinks and sharing platters under the stars.

Swimming

There is no beach at the hotel, but there are two pools. The rooftop infinity pool, with views of the Mediterranean and the village church, is open from 8am to 8pm, with towels and loungers provided free of charge. The indoor pool in the spa, finished with granite floors and bespoke glass, keeps the same hours and has generous loungers.

Pets are not allowed.
