V Villas Maldives at Mirihi – MGallery Collection

About this hotel

General information

V Villas Maldives at Mirihi – MGallery Collection occupies the tiny island of Mirihi in South Ari Atoll. Development is deliberately light: there are only 42 villas, most of them out over the lagoon, where a thriving house reef begins a few steps from the walkways. The resort belongs to Accor's MGallery Collection, a group of hotels each built around a character and story of its own.

The architecture draws on Maldivian tradition — responsibly sourced timber, linen, hand-glazed ceramics, open pavilions and raised decks that let the sea breeze through. A sail-shaped canopy pavilion stands at the heart of the island, and the reception wall carries a ceramic map of Mirihi tracing its reef. Villas are placed to keep the native vegetation and the reef intact. The island runs without single-use plastics, grows its own herbs and vegetables, and its dive team works with marine biologists to restore coral in the Project Hope nurseries. Every villa has a dedicated butler, and a doctor is on call around the clock.

Location

The resort has its own island, Mirihi, in South Ari (Alifu Dhaalu) Atoll, 85 km from Malé. Every guest arrives by seaplane from Velana International Airport, a 30–35-minute flight, with the resort's own lounge at the seaplane terminal for the wait. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so late arrivals continue by domestic flight and boat.

Spa

Mirihi Spa sits in a tropical garden by the beach and has two private treatment rooms, couples' treatments included. Its approach is built around the five elements. The menu covers Balinese massage, body polishes, aromatherapy, tailored facials, sound baths with singing bowls and tuning forks, reiki and pedicures, alongside hot-and-cold therapies with an infrared sauna and ice baths. The signature Spirit of Mirihi ritual combines a warm-shell massage, a gua sha facial and a gemstone mask. Products are organic, chemical-free HealingEarth, and the resident wellness practitioner designs personal programmes. The spa is open from 10:00 to 19:00, by reservation.

Sports & leisure

Mirihi's draw is its lagoon, encircled by 6 km of house reef, though there is plenty on land as well.

  • Diving with Ocean-Pro Diving, a dive centre with PADI's highest rating: try dives, Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air (Nitrox) courses; more than 50 sites within an hour by boat, daily trips on two boats, and the house reef open for diving at any hour, night included. Fifty metres off the reef the Madige, a 25-metre scuttled transport ship, lies at 30 metres as an artificial reef
  • Snorkelling: turtles, rays, octopus and blacktip reef sharks on the house reef; trips by traditional dhoni to the reef edge and to other spots across the atoll, seasonal manta searches, night snorkelling and outings with the marine biologist
  • A full-day expedition on Mirihi Thari, a traditional-style yacht, in search of whale sharks, mantas and turtles, with meals by the chef on board
  • Non-motorised water sports, all complimentary: kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, windsurfing for beginners and experienced riders, and daily guided catamaran sails
  • Sunrise and sunset fishing by dhoni, with the catch cooked by the chef; a sunset cruise with sparkling wine, often joined by dolphins
  • Cooking and craft classes: Maldivian curries, Maldivian vegan dishes such as breadfruit curry and banana fritters, cocktails, fruit carving and a coconut class covering everything from tasting the nut at different stages to weaving the fronds
  • A 24-hour Technogym gym and an open-air training area under the palms; the Body & Soul programme in the open-air Bageechaa Pavilion, modelled on traditional Maldivian boat houses: sunrise yoga, aerial yoga, breathwork and hypnotherapy
  • Stargazing through the resort's telescope, beach cinema, local island trips and hands-on coral care with Project Hope
Restaurants & bars

Mirihi has three restaurants and a bar, with menus built on local produce and herbs from the island garden.

  • Muraka — an over-water restaurant of only a few tables: contemporary international cooking from Wagyu beef to Maldivian lobster, wines and Champagne, weekly culinary evenings and reef sharks often resting below; booking ahead is essential
  • Dhonveli — the all-day beachfront restaurant with sand floors and a deck over the ocean: themed stations from grilled reef fish and handmade pasta to vegan dishes, buffets at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and themed dinners including a Maldivian seafood barbecue
  • AKOYA | Sea Lounge — the shoreline bar by the pool, with live music at sunset, a collection of rums from around the world including the island's own Muraka rum, cocktails and light snacks
  • The Tasting Room — wine, rum and chocolate pairings, cooking and cocktail masterclasses, and Maldivian small plates matched with wines
  • Private formats: floating breakfast in a villa's own pool, sandbank dinners with a personal chef and butler, and 24-hour in-villa dining
Swimming

Soft white beaches ring the island, and the lagoon and house reef begin a few steps from the shore. Beside AKOYA | Sea Lounge, an 87 m² infinity-style pool looks out over the ocean. The beach villas face the sunset side of the island, the over-water villas open straight onto the lagoon, and the two-bedroom over-water villas have steps from the deck into the water.

Rooms

There are 42 villas in all, the residence included: six beach villas, 30 over-water villas, two-bedroom over-water villas and a three-bedroom residence, some with a private pool. Interiors are in light natural tones, with polished timber floors, canvas canopies and pieces by local craftspeople.
