General information
Soneva Fushi occupies Kunfunadhoo island in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known for the richness of its underwater life. Villas are tucked into dense tropical vegetation beside empty beaches of fine white sand, while a handful stand on stilts over a lagoon with its own house reef.
The island has a full life of its own: the Soneva Soul wellness complex, the largest kids’ club in the Maldives and well over a dozen restaurants, bars and cafés — among them a restaurant set 12 metres up in the treetops. There is an observatory, an open-air cinema, an eco centre with an organic garden, an art gallery and a library. Every villa has a personal butler, and a photographer, concierge and laundry service are on hand; weddings and honeymoon programmes can be arranged.
Location
Kunfunadhoo, 400 by 1,400 metres, lies in Baa Atoll. It is 30 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport in Malé or 15 minutes from Maafaru airport; alternatively, a 20-minute flight to Dharavandhoo regional airport is followed by a 12-minute boat ride.
Spa
Soneva Soul is a two-level wellness complex hidden in the island’s jungle, with a fitness centre, hydrotherapy area, vitamin bar, spa boutique, relaxation areas and treatment rooms. The menu spans ancient Asian practices — Ayurveda, acupuncture, aromatherapy, herbal baths and massage — alongside oxygen therapy, cryotherapy, sound therapy and treatments using the latest technology.
Sports & leisure
Every villa has its own pool. For the active there is a gym, a yoga and meditation pavilion, a tennis court and a padel court, a PADI dive centre and school, and a water sports centre. Less expected are the Paradiso open-air cinema, an observatory, a ropes course in the forest, an eco centre with an organic garden, and classes in cooking and glassblowing. At sea there is snorkelling, surfing, fishing, turtle spotting, dolphin and stargazing cruises, outings with a resident marine biologist and trips to other islands in the atoll. Bicycles and water sports, diving, snorkelling and tennis equipment are provided.
For children
Den, at 1,365 m², is the largest kids’ club in the Maldives. It has two pools, one with a slide, playgrounds for different ages, a themed play complex including a Lego zone, creative studios, a music room, a games room with arcade machines, billiards and table tennis, a library, a mini cinema, a telescope deck and a kitchen for cooking lessons. Teenagers from 12 can join educational programmes at the Soneva academy, and babysitting is available on request.

Dining on the island stretches from dinner in the treetops to a quiet cheese tasting.

There is also a relaxed bar for cocktails and wine; in-villa and private dining are available.
Swimming
Sandy beaches ring the island, with a house reef close to shore. Villas on the western side have direct reef access, which suits snorkellers.
Rooms
The island has 63 villas: 55 set in the jungle by the beach and eight on stilts over the lagoon. Sunrise villas on the east side face the dawn and an open horizon; Sunset villas on the west look towards the evening sky and the house reef. All have generous pool terraces and a personal butler.
Villas have air conditioning, a ceiling fan, telephone, flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, a safe, a minibar, tea and coffee facilities with an espresso machine, a pillow menu, a yoga mat and bicycles, plus an open-plan bathroom with bath, shower, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and toiletries.
