About this hotel
General information
The resort occupies Furanafushi in North Malé Atoll, one of the largest natural islands in the Maldives. Broad white beaches wrap around dense tropical greenery alive with geckos and birdlife, with a turquoise lagoon and house reefs beyond. There are 176 rooms, cottages and villas, ranging from garden rooms to cottages by the sand and villas on stilts above the lagoon, many of them with a private plunge pool.
This is first and foremost a family resort, with a kids' club, seven restaurants and bars spanning Indian, Thai and Mediterranean cooking, and a spa set on its own islet, linked to the main island by a long overwater bridge. The resort holds Green Globe certification: an on-site biogas plant turns food waste into energy, and drinking water is bottled on the island to cut single-use plastic. With the resident marine biologist, guests can adopt a coral frame and plant fragments on the house reef.
Location
Furanafushi lies in North Malé Atoll, 15 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport in Malé. A shared resort speedboat meets every arrival and departure according to the resort's schedule, and private transfers can be arranged.
Spa
Shine Spa for Sheraton sits in a tropical garden on its own islet, reached from the resort by an 82-metre overwater bridge. It has six treatment villas, a VIP suite, a relaxation lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, separate steam rooms and plunge pools for women and men, and an open-air yoga pavilion. The menu moves between aromatherapy, Ayurvedic massage and ocean-inspired therapies, using Sothys products. Signatures include the Shine Massage with warm stones, silk honey and a facial massage, the oxygen-based Shine Facial, the Shine Body polish and wrap, and Shine Indulge, a session of several hours in the VIP suite; Find Your Glow lets guests combine any three treatments. Couples' massages, manicures, pedicures and treatments for children are also offered; booking is required.

North Malé Atoll counts more than 40 dive sites, most of them close to the resort, and house reefs around the island are good for snorkelling. Non-motorised equipment such as kayaks and stand-up paddleboards is complimentary.

Children are first registered with a parent during the club's open-house hours. Babysitting can be arranged for younger children at an extra charge. The main pool has a children's pool alongside, and the restaurants offer a dedicated children's menu.
Restaurants & bars
Seven restaurants and bars share the island; dishes from any of them can be delivered to the villa, and room service runs around the clock.

Swimming
The island is ringed by wide white-sand beaches and house reefs. The freshwater main pool is open daily from 08:00 to 18:00, with a children's pool alongside and towels provided. Many cottages and villas have their own plunge pool, and steps lead from the overwater villas straight into the lagoon.
