About this hotel
General information
The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands opened in June 2021 on the green Fari Islands, edged with white beaches and a clear lagoon. Its overwater and beach villas were designed by Kerry Hill Architects, whose minimalism draws quietly on Maldivian tradition, with pool terraces turned towards the lagoon and the open ocean.
The resort is part of a wider island community: boats run to nearby Fari Marina, with its yacht berths, beach club, boutiques, restaurants and marine biology centre. On the resort itself are several restaurants, an overwater spa, The Ritz Kids club, a contemporary art gallery and a boutique. Personal butlers are available around the clock, alongside a concierge and photographer, and weddings and honeymoon programmes can be arranged.
Location
The resort lies on the Fari Islands in North Malé Atoll, around 50 minutes by speedboat or 10 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport.
Spa
The Ritz-Carlton Spa is built over the water in the shape of a ring. It has nine treatment rooms, including a spa suite with a private lounge, a beauty salon, nail studio and spa boutique, and offers a full menu of face and body treatments. Alongside is a well-equipped fitness centre, a yoga studio offering aerial yoga, and separate steam rooms and saunas for men and women.
Sports & leisure
A main outdoor pool complements the villas’ private pools. The gym is open 24 hours, and there is a yoga studio, a tennis court, a dive centre and a water sports centre, as well as an open-air cinema and a photography studio. Beach volleyball, football, pétanque, boat trips, fishing, cooking classes and lessons on traditional Maldivian drums round out the programme. Bicycles and water sports, diving, snorkelling and tennis equipment are provided.
For children
The Ritz Kids club, for ages 4–12, has a pool with slides and splash features, playrooms, outdoor playgrounds, a zone for video games and films, and a quiet area with sleep pods. Its programmes rest on four pillars of Maldivian life — land, water, environmental responsibility and culture — with cycling, cooking and pottery among the activities. There is also a separate children’s pool.
Restaurants & bars
Dining runs from southern Italian to Cantonese, with two venues located in Fari Marina.
- La Locanda — the island’s “living room”, with a library and open terrace, serving southern Italian cuisine
- Summer Pavilion — Cantonese dishes from a Michelin-starred chef, over the water
- Iwau — Japanese dinners and teppanyaki under the stars
- Beach Shack — Mediterranean plates to DJ sets
- Eau Bar — zero-waste concept with a balanced, healthy menu and afternoon tea
- Arabesque — Lebanese cuisine in a Bedouin-style tent at Fari Marina
- Tum Tum — colourful food truck serving Asian dishes at Fari Marina
Private dining and in-villa dining are available.
Swimming
The islands are fringed with sandy beaches, and the water villas have steps straight down into the lagoon.
